2016 has been the worst year of my life so far, how about yours? If the theme of the internet is any inclination, it hasn’t been great. So personally, I would like to take these last days of 2016 looking back on the wonderful things that happened this year. The things that we may have overlooked or forgotten through all of the sadness, elections, Pokemon-fueled turf wars, death, the election, and then some more death. Not really the greatest year we could ask for. So, before we move onto 2017, let's remember some of the coolest, heartwarming, and exciting events from 2016.

1. Advancements in Robotics have allowed for the ability to move artificial limbs without needing to think about it

2. Pokemon GO players from Instinct, Mystic, and Valor put their differences aside to set lure modules at hospitals everywhere for the sick children

3. India spent $6 billion to plant 50 million trees in 24 hours, shattering a World Record

4. 7,600 Starbucks stores have started FoodShare, donating meals to food shelters in a safe way

5. Angels from the Orlando Shakespeare Festival used the wings they donned to hide the view of anti-gay protesters from the Orlando Pulse Victims funerals

6. EnChroma released glasses that can correct red-green color blindness

7. More than 6 million homes in California alone are using solar power

8. The $20 bill will now feature Harriet Tubman as a replacement for Andrew Jackson

9. NICU babies were made Halloween costumes for their tiny adorable bodies by local volunteers

10. The Ice Bucket Challenge raised $115 million to find the gene responsible for ALS

And just to prove to you that 2016 really wasn't all that bad, I'll even throw in one extra awesome event. Drum roll please...

BONUS! Leonardo DiCaprio Wins an Oscar, finally!

See, I told you 2016 wasn’t that bad! But let's toast to keep moving forward and get excited to our New Year!

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
