Social media platforms are great assets to the world. Through social media, we are given the opportunity to get our information out there. Likewise, so are companies who are giving back to the world. Here are some of the companies I have seen on social media websites over the past week.

1. Savannah Co

Savannah Co's mission is to save Africa's Endangered Lions. At the end of every month, they donate 10 percent of their profits to Lion Conservation. They say "a Lion possesses both beauty & strength. Our goal is to provide consumers with high-quality products while making an impact on the world." The company sells adorable bracelets, shirts and even mugs! Check them out here.

2. Bearly Dressed

Bearly Dressed's mission is "to raise awareness about the threatened survival of polar bears and to raise money to help preserve their habitats and their future." This company donates half of their profit to World Wildlife Foundation! They sell long-sleeve tees with a polar bear on the back and on the front pocket, made to look like the bear is peeking out of it. Check them out here.

3. NovaLee

NovaLee's mission is "to inform customers on the impact of their purchases. Every purchase will feed an underprivileged child up to 10 meals through the NoKidHungry campaign." They sell long-sleeves, short-sleeves, outerwear and tanks. I just received a long-sleeve purple NovaLee shirt and I love it. They're super soft and very vibrant. Check them out here.

4. Toms

Known as "The One for One Company," Toms gives a pair of their shoes to someone in need of them every time a shoe Toms shoe purchase is made. The company has expanded and now helps restore eyesight, provide clean drinking water, deliver materials and training to provide safe births and supports bullying prevention programs. Learn more about how they do these awesome things here.

5. Unlock Hope

Unlock Hope helps provide young girls in Uganda with everything that they need to receive an education. They sell hats, headbands, necklaces and apparel. Check them out

here.

6. Ivory Ella

Ivory Ella donates 10 percent of their profit to Save the Elephants and other causes. Their products are super adorable and work well with every taste and style! They have mugs, flip flops, shirts, hair ties, water bottles, necklaces and sweatshirts. Check them out here!

7. The Elephant Pants

Another organization for elephants! The Elephant Pants' donations to the African Wildlife Foundation go towards "helping educate the populous about the effects of the Ivory Trade, supplying Park Rangers with proper supplies and adequate training for tracking animals and apprehending poachers, and paying African Land Owners to keep their land open to wildlife instead of selling to developers." Overall, a great company. Not to mention they make super cute and comfortable pants! See for yourself, here.

8. Every Mother Counts

Every Mother Counts is a non-profit organization. They greatly impact the lives of women not only in developing countries but also in the U.S.A. Take a look at their website and the companies that they work with here.

9. Aida Brand

Aida Brand donates a portion of their proceeds to World Wildlife Fund in support of nature, wildlife, and habitats all over the world. They make bracelets, watches, necklaces, and rings. Check them out here.

10. Children's Miracle Network Hospitals

CMNH raises funds and awareness for local children's hospitals. My sorority's philanthropy is CMNH, and I know firsthand how wonderful they are. The cool thing about CMNH is that the money raised goes to a hospital right nearby so you are able to see the affect your help has. Find out more about Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and their events here.

Hopefully, you found something that you could see yourself wearing. Then, you too can give back!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
