Allergies. A burden you learn to live with. From the extra set of tools you learn to carry like tissues, chapstick and EpiPens to the physical toll they takes on you, it's something you can't understand until you have them.
1. So. Much. Medicine.
You can’t start your day until you get nice and drugged up on some antihistamines. The days you don’t realize you’ve forgotten to take them until it’s too late are the worst. The sneeze fits and hives have begun and there’s no turning back. You’ve learned it’s key to find that sweet spot between not enough medication and an antihistamine coma.
2. Advice from The Healthy
Oh, Claritin? What is this miracle medication you speak of? Of course I’ve never tried it and I’m sure it’ll just work wonders.
3. The Almighty Benadryl
I don’t know what is in Benadryl but I think it has been delivered from the heavens. That’s all I have to say. It becomes hard not to resort to this Holy Gift.
4. Weekly Dose of Poison
Going willingly to get injected with the things that slowly kill you becomes a normal activity. Never mind the needle and welts that follow the injection ... it'll all be worth it. One day.
5. Dying or Just Allergies?
Is that first morning sinus headache a sign of your impending doom or just your allergies letting you know they’re going to ruin your day? Only time will tell. But probably allergies.
6. To Pet or not To Pet
It is an internal struggle trying to decide if you want to feel normal and appreciate your pet from a distance or slowly die while you cuddle them. "Oh my god I honestly think I’m dead. This is it. Tell my family I love them. Oh. Wait. The cat was on my bed earlier? That explains it."
7. Unfortunate Appearances
You just come to accept that there will be times people will look at you and wonder why your eyes are swollen, your nose is bright red and peeling, you have weird welts all over your body. There’s no avoiding it.
8. Being Outside
Inside becomes your safe haven where you try to avoid pollen, grass, animals and all things nature.
9. Being Inside
Who am I kidding? Being inside sucks, too. Unless you're in some alternate universe where dust doesn’t exist.
10. Basically Being Alive
It seems the world is out to get you, particularly by making you extremely intolerant of everything around you.
