Netflix is a good friend of mine, and lately I've been plowing through shows like there's no tomorrow. Recently, I've been going through the most binge-worthy of shows, the ones that are impossible to stop watching until you're finished, the ones that keep you up until all hours of the night because you must click on the next episode. Shows that are emotional and graphic and seriously hard to watch sometimes, but you just can't stop. Here are a few of the most addicting.

1. Shameless

This crazy, screwed up show about a crazy, screwed up family on the South Side of Chicago is one of my new favorites. It's darkly funny, full of intriguingly complicated characters, and it's utterly addicting. I watched all 7 available seasons in about 6 weeks.

2. House of Cards

I haven't gotten around to watching this yet, but from what I've heard, it's pure evil and you can't stop watching once you start. Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright are brilliant as twisted, power-hungry politicians.

3. Stranger Things

Full of great child actors, scary monsters, and pure 80's fun, this show only has one season so far, so it's easy to binge in one afternoon. Completely addicting, we're all waiting for season 2 on the edge of our seats.

4. The Walking Dead

Horribly, graphically violent, incredibly sad, this portrayal of a devastating zombie apocalypse will have every viewer on the edge of their seat. With lovable, complex characters, you have to keep watching to see how long they'll last.

5. Black Mirror

This series is unique in that each episode tells a completely different story, with completely different characters, but for some reason you can't stop clicking next. It so disturbingly guesses at the ugly future of humans and technology, it has you shuddering in terror and glued to the screen.

6. American Horror Story

Utterly terrifying, this show again explores the ugliness of human nature, this time through its interactions with the supernatural. Some seasons are better than others, but it's still pretty addicting for fans of psychological thrillers and horror fans alike.

7. Dexter

I also haven't watched this whole series quite yet, but I would imagine that the lovable serial killer at the center of it would be quite entertaining to watch. He goes about his life, casually getting away with the murders of horrible criminals, and according to friends of mine, it's pretty addicting.

8. Breaking Bad

The wild adventures of a high school chemistry teacher turned meth dealer are hard to stop watching. There's a reason it won so many Emmy's when it was on TV, so it must be pretty good.

9. A Series of Unfortunate Events

This show probably isn't for everybody, because it's got a very quirky, fourth-wall-breaking sense of humor. But if you were a fan of the books as a kid or you just want to see Neil Patrick Harris play a cross-dressing bad guy, this is a quick, easy show to get through.

10. Sherlock

This classic BBC show's success can be attributed to its brilliant leads, Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch, and its brilliant writing. The complicated detective stories and the crazy villains are thrilling and addicting.

So there you go, some wonderful time-wasters and crazy-dramatic series to keep you invested while you avoid homework and sleep.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
