Since being in college and sitting through those long classes with a hundred people, I've discovered a new way to entertain myself (sorry, Mom!). In high school, the big social media app was Facebook, but now I find myself more attached to Instagram than anything else.
Instagram makes it so easy to scroll through several different accounts and like everything you see with a simple "double tap" of your finger. It also makes it extremely easy to stalk everyone and their mom via a click of a user name and, most of the time, the accounts are public. It's so easy to get lost because the next thing you know, you'll be in 130 weeks deep on your best friend's cousin's ex-boyfriend's account looking at their Christmas pictures from their trip to Big Bear.

So, as college students, we need all the stimulation to make it through the day we can get, and I've personally found some pretty awesome Instagram accounts that every college student would enjoy or should enjoy. Below, they're separated into categories:
HUMOR:
1. @sarcasm_only
Why: Because sarcasm, that's why. With its cleverly crafted witty quotes and the fact that it's way too real, every college student, especially the girls, can relate.
2. @daddyissues
Why: This woman is hilarious. Not only does she post relatable situations for, well, most of us, she's confident enough to embrace her awkward tendencies and share them with the world, making us laugh because we know there's a Violet Benson inside us all.
P.S. Read her captions. They're often more hilarious than the pictures.
3. @tindernightmares
Why: Who doesn't love a good story about a horribly awkward (and sometimes just horrible) Tinder match conversation? And this account posts some of the best ones I've ever read.
4. @kidsaretheworst
Why: It's extremely effective birth control, but at the same time, you'll love kids so much afterwards because they're just ridiculously small adults.
INSPIRATIONAL:
5. @happsters
Why: What more to say than this account keeps you happy? Posting happy quotes and not-so-subtle reminders to be happy, this account will add a little brightness to your day with every post."
6. @thegoodquote
Why: Like the above, it's a page of quotes, but for this one, the quotes are more motivational rather than reminders to be happy. You might find a couple that will end up being your background photos to help you get through the day.
7. @remarkableplaces
Why: I have taken screenshots of so many of these places and bookmarked them online so that it'll motivate me to make enough money in order to travel to all of these amazing places that she mentions.
IMPORTANT:
8. @humansofny
Why: You've seen the stories on Facebook and admired the photos, and you can do that on Instagram, too. Not only is it extremely humbling, but it's inspiring to see as well. It's a fantastic reminder that there are so many different types of people on this earth and we are just a small puzzle piece of the population.
9. @awesome.earth
Why: Sometimes, when we've been sitting inside stuffy classrooms doing homework and listening to lectures all day, we take the outdoors and nature itself for granted. We forget how beautiful the world really is and this account will remind you of that.
10. @itsdougthepug
Why: Okay, okay, so this one is mostly just for more laughs, but it's important because it's a pug...doing not-so-pug things...
So, the next time you're sitting in a long lecture and/or scrolling through your news feed before falling asleep and you're bored, check out some of these Instagram accounts. You won't be sorry.
