When I look back on my childhood, there is always one part of it that stood out in regards to how I spent some of the quality time with my parents. Talked to some of my friends about it, and there was something peculiar that stood out from how they spent some of that time. Well I’m not going to beat around the bush and just say it outright. I watched anime with my parents as a kid. So now that I got that out, it's pretty endearing that even as an adult there are plenty of times when we would watch something whether Dragonball, Gundam, Sailor Moon or Pokémon. So without further ado here are 10 anime from the 80s and 90s that your parents can appreciate.

1. Dragonball

Based of of Akira Toriyama's most famous manga series of the same name, this show follows the adventure of Son Goku and his quest to become the most powerful martial artist on the planet

2. Sailor Moon

This show revolves around teenager Usagi Tsukino and her friends battling the forces of evil as the magically powered Sailor Scouts each based off of a planet in the Solar System. 'Course, if your'e trying to get your parents feet wet with the dub, I don't recommend the Dic version of this show.

3. Pokémon

Okay, if your parents have not heard of this franchise, whether from the video games, anime, trading card game, popular mobile phone game or the large amount of stuffed toys they can find at Walmart; I hate to say it, but they've been living under a rock.

4. Yu Yu Hakasho

Spirits, demons, martial arts tournaments involving demons; this one has it all along with a really catchy intro song. Anyhow this one follows Yusuke Urameshi's battle against demons as a spirit detective employed by some higher power.

5. Mobile Suit Gundam Wing

Planning on toppling a repressive united Earth government by sending five teenagers to Earth with giant robots that are pretty much nigh indestructable? What could possibly go wrong? A lot, that's what, but hey, at least there are big explosions in space.

6. Dragonball Z

To be honest this one is my mom's favorite I shit thee not. It basically continues where Dragonball left off, but with a more serious tone as the show progresses. It is, however, a good turn for the series.

7. Voltron

I'm just gonna quote "Deadpool" and five mini lion robots combined to form a super lion robot. What could be more awesome than that?

8. Digimon

Like Pokémon this show involves powerful creatures except the plot involves a group of kids that get transported into the "Digital World" (the internet) where these monsters reside and must battle evil alongside them.

9. Saint Seiya

It's another martial arts anime (wow the 90s were full of these), anyhow, this one's gimmick involves greek mythology being imbued with our heroes.

10. Ruroni Kenshin

I was going to put Robotech/SDF Macross as the last one on this list, but I'll be honest, this one is much better. Anyhow, this show takes place during the Mejie Restoration of Japan (the part of Japanese history between Matthew Perry opening relations and WWII). This show follows a wandering swordsman called Himura Kenshin as he protects the innocent while not killing anyone that would get in the way of that plan. Makes for an interesting twist if you ask me.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
