You Have The Power Over Your Day

Never let someone's words have an emotional reaction over you.

Have you ever had an amazing day and someone said something to you, which then caused your day to turn upside down?

I'm sure the answer is "YES"! Why do we allow people's words to have such an impact on our day? The moment we learn to not allow anyone else but ourselves to have power over us is the day our lives will change. You should have so much control over your thoughts and your energy that no one is able to dictate the way your day will end but you.

There will always be something that happens throughout the day that will cause us to want to react in a negative way.

I work in a field where I am constantly faced with clients who are extremely rude and entitled. They feel as though they may say as they please and do as they please. I get screamed at as if I am not human and it used to get to me. However, now I have mastered the art of not allowing others to have power over me. While they are reacting in a negative way, I simply keep my composure and brush everything off and I'm on to the next.

People have their bad days and you just have to let them have their bad days while you continue to have your good days. You see, reacting in a negative way gives the person more power over you than you have over yourself. You will always be under stress if you continuously have a negative reaction to everything that is said to you. Take a step back and view things with greater logic than others.

That will be your true power, to refrain from reacting. If words control you, everything and everyone will then be able to control you. Nothing others say is because of you. You have to become immune to others' words and actions. You simply only have to believe in your words and actions, and then you won't have to trust what others say.

Everyone has their own personality and sometimes we don't understand why they say or do certain things. It's important to not take things personally because that is when we will suffer emotionally. We suffer when we are constantly replaying the negative things people say to us.

It's important to have a firm belief of who you are so that the next time someone does say something, you may simply brush it off. You know what the truth it is and they are simply stating their opinions.

The next time you are encountered with a situation that will impact your day, just simply walk away, calm down and take deep breaths. This way you are able to think and react in an appropriate manner and not negatively. We are all learning each day and that is completely OK. There is not one person on this Earth that has learned everything. Once we realized we can learn and grow each and every day, we will learn to not let others impact our days. We are the only ones who should have control of our lives, our thoughts and our happiness.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
