The 1-year old organization's main goal was to prompt people to go outside for a change and get them to give back to their communities. On their respective webpage, you can find their organization was "inspired by the need for our youth to understand the importance of taking care of the world we live in. We believe if every person focuses on picking up one piece each we can make a serious impact on the quality of our future as a whole."
I had the pleasure to sit down for a conversation with Mr. Cover and discuss what the plans are for the future and what strides they have been making previously. The young organization specializes in beach cleanups all over the US, that has expanded into other countries such as Cuba, Indonesia, Austria, and Egypt. They've also been referenced in the news plenty of times on WFLA News Channel 8, The Daytona Beach News-Journal, and have gained over 1,700 followers over Facebook.
A key point is that this is a non-profit organization, with all donations going to children's programs and resources, educational outreach and information dissemination, community mobilization, and communications and policy change.
Cover explained to me his hopes for the future, explaining to me the app that will be implemented around next year that will be a major way for people to "connect the dots," as he said, to create a greater community of people working together to do good for the world and raising awareness with a sense of urgency. He also talked about wanting to come to Arizona State University to facilitate an event or meeting, as ambassador Katie Reed, a freshman, he says has been making such a huge impact every since her early engagement with the organization before coming to ASU.
I would urge anyone and everyone to do there part to protect the environment and give back to their community and as the upcoming generation we have a duty to keep the metaphorical torch of environment protection burning so we can pass it down to the generation, keeping it alive so we can cherish all the beauty nature has to offer.
