Women's March in DC Makes Largest In History

Saturday, January 21, 2017, was a day everyone will remember for years and decades to come. There were 1600 different protests worldwide to express how much Trump should not be President. The protests highlighted women having the voice in their rights. The Women's March took places in major cities in the United States of America including Washington D.C., Los Angeles, California, Chicago, Boston and more. Outside of the United States, cities such as London, Rome, and of course others protested right outside of their United states Embassies. Women from all over got off of their couches and protested. There were people of all colors and ages who marched for their rights. There were posters saying all sorts of things. Pictures are included in this article to show the very creative posters created by the protestors. The protests hoped their march would let Congress know to not defund Planned Parenthood, do not build a wall to force immigrants out, recognize that women's rights are human rights, black lives moment, and for the LGBT community. No one was leaving until they got their message across. For the Women's March in Washington D.C., protestors came from many different countries and different states.

Being a part of this magnificent event was great. It showed me that we as women can come together and have a peaceful protest. There was no ounce of violence at this protest and no report at any other protest. No one was forced on getting their message across through vandalism and other ways of violence. They wanted to use their voices. There were guest speakers such as Madonna, America Ferrera, Cecile Richards (CEO of Planned Parenthood), Angela Davis, Scarlet Johannson, Janell Monae, Alicia Keys, and other celebrities. Celebrities coming out to protest showed the nation was one page about their message.

From many decades, women's rights have been limited. In 1920, women were given the right to vote. But still, since then, the government and political leaders have made it hard for them to obtain the same rights as men. Recently in the media, sources have alleged that President Donald J. Trump has forcefully touched women sexually without their permission, this also was one of the major urges to have this march all over the world. Many people feel that President Trump does not support women's rights or their existence in the government. Even though he has appointed a few women in his cabinet and Congress, this does not prove his respect for women. It just shows he was doing his job as President.

This Women's March started by two women on social media from different countries that wanted to come together to speak up for women's rights. They wanted to round up 200,000 but about a million protestors came out to support (more women than men). I am honored to be a part of such a historical moment that will eventually get mentioned in future history books. The mission of the women's march was met all over the world.

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.

Oh college, we can’t live with you, but we can’t live without you. It’s a love/hate relationship, really. College is an experience that no one can ever prepare you for, and maybe that’s a good thing. You never really expect any of the things that college encompasses until you are there. College is fun, but don’t have too much fun. C’s get degrees, but they don’t get you into graduate school.

Blair Waldorf

The "Gossip Girl" series may be over, but Blair Waldorf's iconic character lives in our hearts forever. Blair was the queen of the Upper East Side, and a character you either loved or hated. She taught us everything we needed to know about life, love and of course, how to score a Chuck Bass. So the next time you feel a bit lost and are in need of guidance, look no further than to the Queen B herself.

As I spend my Sunday avoiding my homework and other adult responsibilities, I realized that I've watched this series over and over about a million times. Sadly, there isn't a Blair quote I don't know, so I came up with a list of a few favorites. You know you love her...xoxo

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out.
