I think that it's cliché
when people claim
the world stops
whenever something serious
happens in their lives.
However,
I can't help but think
that it's the best way to explain
what I felt the day I met you.
The Earth halted
so suddenly
that it laughed
as it watched me
hit the ground.
The stars fell from the sky
and bounced
off my head,
endless clouds
blocked my vision
and rich dirt filled my lungs
so high that I coughed
until I felt like
I would be sick.
After regaining my composure,
I noticed how everybody else's worlds
had kept turning
while mine felt like
it had been
tossed in fifteen hundred
different directions.
If I could recall,
you had looked a bit
shaken up as well
as if something inside
your own world
had stopped.
The day I met you
I think we both found out
what that the cliché feeling
of the world stopping felt like.
Only this time
it was different.
Our worlds had stopped
because they collided.
