There is nothing quite like the feeling you get during the summer when you catch yourself shivering for the first time in a few months because of the cool August evening winds. Immediately your mind fantasizes and dances around thoughts of pumpkin flavored everything's, breaking out your old hoodies, and the start of something new. It’s many people’s favorite season from all across the country because of those aforementioned reasons, but like a lot of things, Wisconsin does fall best.
Wisconsin is just a flat out beautiful state from the bluffs in La Crosse to the northern woods and right on down to the farm located just a few miles out in the country, and watching mother nature take her fall spin on the environment is a thing of wonder to witness. If you’ve never walked along a creek as you crunched leaves on the sidewalk with every step then you just haven’t lived.
It’s impossible to bring up Wisconsin when talking about seasonal aspects without mentioning the seasonal beer. Whether you’re hunting down New Glarus’s Staghorn Octoberfest, or lamenting the loss of Summer Shandy with the autumnal blend, Harvest Patch Shandy by Leinenkugel’s brewery in Chippewa Falls there is a seasonal brew that fits your needs right here in the Badger state.
Speaking of Badgers, there is no other finer time to be alive if you’re a sports fan then once September rolls around. The green and the gold and the blaze orange line Lambeau field every Sunday just as sure as the red and white blanket Madison on Saturdays. It’s not just the sheer number of people we put in the stands or the number that are waiting for season tickets (The average wait time for your pair is 30 years) it’s what the teams mean to the wonderful people who inhabit the great state of Wisconsin.
When Aaron Rodgers and company take the field on each and every Sunday after half of the state has just gotten out of church, time stops. Leaves float to the ground, overcast skies slowly give way to gray as a deep ball finds it’s way into Randall Cobb’s hands as smooth as the way Spotted Cow pours from the tap in a bar owned by your best friend’s grandparents.
There might be no beaches, no skyscrapers, no subway tunnels or exotic getaways but what is there to get away from? There is no place on the planet like Wisconsin in the fall. It’s the drinks, the friends, the company, the friday nights, the hoodies, the Packers, the Badgers, the brats, the small towns, the cows, it’s truly too much to list and if you’re not from here, well you just might not get it, but to put it simply, once you’ve said Wisconsin, you’ve said it all.
