For nine seasons, the cast of "One Tree Hill" took us through an emotional journey. Some episodes left me in tears while others provided many laughs. In just a few episodes, I fell in love with the storyline and found myself binge watching several episodes at a time. In 187 episodes, we take away several life lessons. Some of these lessons left behind relatable quotes that apply to our everyday life.

1. "Happiness comes in many forms — in the company of good friends, in the feeling you get when you make someone else’s dream come true, or in the promise of hope renewed. It’s okay to let yourself be happy because you never know how fleeting that happiness might be." - Lucas Scott

Some are evil men, at war with good. And some are good, struggling with evil. Six billion people in the world. Six billion souls. And sometimes — all you need is one." - Peyton Sawyer

5. "There’s no shame in being afraid. Hell, we’re all afraid. What you gotta do is figure out what you’re afraid of because when you put a face on it, you can beat it. Better yet, you can use it." - Coach Whitey Durham

10. "I think eventually we learn to define happiness for ourselves on our own terms, in spite of the pain other people have caused us." - Haley Scott

11. "So make your wish. Do you have it? Good. Now believe in it, with all of your heart." – "One Tree Hill"

13. "It's hard when you miss people. But you know, if you miss them, it means you were lucky. It means you had someone special in your life, someone worth missing." - Nathan Scott

14. "And when you find yourself lost in the darkness and despair ... remember it's only in the black of night you can see the stars, and those stars will lead you back home." - Coach Whitey Durham

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
