This is why we fangirl over J-Biebs or Aaron Carter, who are both cute and have a voice that could sing you to sleep every night. Each year our obsession is changing to a different hottie, and this year I know exactly who we should should obsess over: Shawn Mendes.

Another Canadian pop star, Shawn Mendes is every girl's dream man. He sings just about anything and his vocal range is spectacular. He started out posting vine covers in 2014, and eventually gained such a huge following that he ended up landing a record deal within the same year.

Here are five reasons why Mendes should be all over your playlists this coming school year:

1. If your hook up ends for no reason

His song "Stitches" is perfect for when that boy you've been crazy about doesn't want you anymore. The super clever line now that I'm without your kisses, I'll be needing stitches, hits right near home. It's up-beat too, so you could run in the gym to the song while you release your anger positively.

2. When you're driving home with the windows down

If you're coming home for work and you just want to burst out some good song lyrics, "Something Big" is the song to listen to. The beat just makes you want to go 15 miles per hour above the speed limit with your hair flowing all around you.

The song "Never Be Alone" is that cute song you just want to dance around your dorm room with your significant other and kiss them every other verse. I mean who doesn't want to hear someone tell them you'll never be alone.
