When looking at our millennial generation, there are a few things that clearly distinguish us from other generations. These things include our aptness for almost anything technological, our proclivity towards social responsibility, and my personal favorite, our ability to binge–watch Netflix.
Binge–watching Netflix should be considered a sport, for it requires focus, determination, and follow through (is this too much?) Like almost any millennial, I too find myself enjoying a long Netflix session on a Saturday morning as a nice start to my weekend. But what happens when your hilarious, amazing, suspenseful but not terrifying television show ends? What will you watch now?
Have no fear, Netflix girl is here to give you five stellar Netflix recommendations so you never find yourself in the browse section, desperate to find something to watch.
- Narcos: Interested in the Medellin drug cartel? The rise and fall of Colombian kingpin Pablo Escobar? The Drug Enforcement Agency chasing after said cartel? Look no further, this show is nothing short of epic if you don’t mind reading some subtitles along the way. Warning: it can be very graphic, and it’s a show where you have to be paying attention to what is happening (doing homework while watching will end with you flustered and confused).
- How To Get Away With Murder: While only one season is on Netflix, this show is incredibly addictive. “Brilliant criminal defense attorney and law professor Annalise Keating, plus five of her students, become involved in a twisted murder case.” This show is full of twists and turns –you’ll dig it.
- Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Interested in something lighthearted and with short episodes? Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is for you. “Imprisoned by a cult leader as a teenager, Midwesterner Kimmy is freed after 15 years. The first thing she decides to do is to move to New York.” It sounds a little scary, but it is oh so funny.
- Damages: “In this acclaimed drama, Emmy winner Glenn Close is riveting as a morally challenged lawyer extraordinaire who rules the New York legal scene.” My mother binge–watched this show and she never does that – it’s really that good.
- Blue Bloods: If you like mysteries, cops, Tom Selleck, action, and a dose of family drama, this show is for you. “Cops Danny and Jamie Reagan and their lawyer sister Erin try to live up to the standards of their father, Frank, who’s the NYC police commissioner."
