So, you've gotten your bid to a fraternity. Duuuuuuude. But now what? You're not officially "in" until you're initiated, and you've started off your pledge process either really excited, absolutely terrified, or both.
As a junior in college and member of a sorority, I've had my fair share of encounters with wonderful (and not so wonderful) fraternity men. I would like to offer you a few nuggets of knowledge about how to be the fraternity guy you've dreamt of being ever since you got to college and saw the first set of Greek letters on a dumpy house off-campus -- which was like a month ago, but still.
No cargo shorts. The crime of all fraternity crimes. Your pants can have 4 pockets and no more.
You have to have a catchphrase. Feel free to pick from the following, or make one up for yourself.Â
1. Trooooooo. (see: 2 Chainz) Â
2. Speaking the language.Â
3. True Chainz.Â
4. He pulls mad girls/Does this dude even pull?Â
5. Yo that's loud.Â
6. That's the move.Â
7. ________ for the boys. (fill in the blank with literally anything)Â
8. We outchea.
Be secretly emotional. Every time you have had a bit too much to drink at a party, find a girl you hardly know and tell her your entire life story.
Find one brother and talk about why he sucks every time you hang out.Â
Quote everything that you see on Twitter, and perhaps use it as your new catchphrase.Â
If you take a girl to date party who isn't in a top tier sorority, you must act like you are dreading going with her for the entire week beforehand.Â
If you are threatened by another fraternity, you have to talk badly about them whenever the opportunity presents itself. Even if they are great people. Which they probably are...God, I hate those guys.
If one of your brothers has a semi-attractive sister, mom or grandmother, you must hint at sexual advances towards her at least twice per conversation.
Spend at least 15 minutes at every fraternity event going around asking everyone you see, "Who do you know here? Do you even go here?"
And in all seriousness, being in a fraternity is about being a gentleman, being polite and working towards a better future. So do that stuff too.
