Foxfield 2015 Recap

It is one of the most anticipated events each year for Wahoos. Whether you saw a horse or not, here's a timeline recap of how your day might have gone.

Saturday, April 25, 2015

6:30 a.m. Bright and early, your alarm clock rings. This is probably the earliest you've ever woken up on a Saturday morning, but you jump out of bed with excitement because it's the day you've been waiting all year for: Foxfield.

7:00 a.m. Ladies, you've put on your new Lilly Pulitzer dress, and you've got your floppy sun hat in hand. Gentlemen, you're decked out in a Vineyard Vines shirt and bow tie along with shorts of some pastel shade, and you're ready to go.

7:30 a.m. Breakfast time! Everyone knows that you have to get some food in your system before that first drink once you arrive at Foxfield. Evidently, this was the longest Bodo's line you've ever seen. Mimosas may or may not also be present.

8:30 a.m. Your ride is departing, and you're ready for the day ahead of you. A little rain can't stop us!

8:30–10:30 a.m. Possibly the longest 5.7 mile drive ever. Yes, it was only 5.7 miles away. Someone may or may not have already thrown up on the bus.

10:30 a.m. FINALLY ARRIVED AT FOXFIELD. Grab your hats and your coolers, and get ready to go. Turns out it's a lot harder to find your assigned plot than you had imagined.

11:00 a.m. You run around quickly in an attempt to get all the free koozies, stickers, cups, and Vineyard Vines whale hats before they all run out. It's quite a sad moment when those whale hats run out the second before you get to the tent.

11:30 a.m. Lunch time! Excitedly running back to your tent for sustenance, only to find out that the only food left to be found is rain-soaked Cane's chicken and some chip crumbs.

12:00 p.m. Noon rolls around and you take a couple more drinks, remembering that Foxfield is a marathon, not a sprint.

12:30 p.m. At this point, you've done at least a few, if not all, of the following: lost your friends, taken a few more shots, gotten beer poured on you, slipped and fallen, cried, gotten lost again.

1:00 p.m. Question life choices.

2:00 p.m. Rain. So much rain. And cold. You're practically soaked by this point especially if you don't have an umbrella. And even if you did, you're probably still soaked.

2:30 p.m. You thought you made it out alive only to discover Cane's sauce that somehow got all over your outfit. (When did that even happen?)

3:00 p.m. You're getting ready to leave, but wait… is that a horse you see? Or was that just some guy in a costume? The world may never know.

3:15 p.m. You had no idea that trying to find the bus would be this hard. Why do they all look the same?!

4:30 p.m. You're finally home. How did you get back here? Also unsure. But you're back, and that's what matters.

5:00 p.m. onwards If you didn't pass out the second you got home, you were probably shoving food in your face. Otherwise, you're taking the best nap of your life.

Thanks for a great (and questionable) time, Foxfield 2015, even though it was cold and rainy. See you again next year!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
