The end of the semester is near and that means work, work and more work. When you don’t want to study anymore, think again. YOU CAN DO IT. It’s just a couple of more weeks. You’ve already worked so hard these past 13 or 14 weeks so just put the effort in to the final couple and finish strong!
The best technique to studying is to start early. Your exam might be in two weeks but start now. Review your notes, previous exams and start studying. Doing this for a short amount of time every day will better prepare you for the exam. Rereading things over and over helps, too. It will eventually stick (trust me) and you will feel confident with the material. Stick with small 30- minute sessions throughout the week. So don’t do last minute cramming and stress yourself out.
These are helpful tips to keep in mind
Study groups
If there is a lot of material and you don’t think you can learn it all, get a group and share what you all know. Or, just get together and review the material. Why suffer alone when you can suffer with others?
Take a break
PUT IT DOWN. Don’t look at it. Watch Netflix or go grab some food. Give yourself enough time away from the material and then when you come back you’ll be refreshed and ready to hit it hard again.
Go to the gym
Release some stress. Go run it out, lift it out, or dance it out. Don’t worry about the material; your brain needs a rest. However, studying while doing cardio isn’t a bad idea either. So if you’re torn between going to the gym and studying, do both.
Flashcards
There are a lot of flashcard apps for your phone. These are helpful so when you’re waiting at the doctors office, or stuck by a train, you’re material is always with you. Or, use paper flashcards. These always help because your brain recognizes the word on the exam and then you can see the word on the flashcard and remember the information.
Use different colors
If you write in different colors of ink or highlight in different colors, your brain recognizes a different color and it refocuses.
Remember to sleep
You aren’t going to do well if you aren’t getting enough sleep. Stay healthy, sleep enough and eat right. Taking care of yourself is so important, especially at this stage in the game.
Turn off your phone
Turn off your phone so you can maximize your time spent studying. When taking breaks, text your friends back and check Twitter, but don’t pay attention to any device when you’re studying. If you’re studying on your computer, turn off your notifications so your eyes aren’t wandering
Don’t stress
It is what it is. If you've effectively studied then you have nothing to worry about.
You’re almost there. Keep going. It might feel awful now, but when you’re on break for a month, you won’t have to think about anything school related and can relax then.
