12 Throwback Movies To Watch During The Snowpocalypse

So I don’t know about you, but, when I’m snowed in, I like to watch super cringy teen movies. What better way to warm up from the blizzard with a cup of tea and some oldies?

1. "Hairspray" (2007)

So this is one of my favorite movie musicals. The music is catchy and it has a stars like Queen Latifah, John Travolta, James Marsden, Christopher Walken, Amanda Bynes and, of course, Zach Efron. It’s a great movie to sing along to and get a taste of the discrimination that the black community faced in the sixties.

2. A Cinderella Story

This movie is a modern take on a classic fairytale, and I love it. A popular football star falls in love with fellow Princeton applicant, the bullied diner girl. This movie has some great quotes and it is a feel good love story.

3. High School Musical 1, 2 and 3

Yeah, so I made fun of High School Musical when it first came out, but looking back, it was a really quality Disney film. It had dancing, singing, romance, conflict and some great basketball choreography. High School Musical just had its ten-year anniversary, and it was great to see how the cast was doing.

4. Clueless

I love Clueless. That may be due to my slightly unhealthy obsession with Alicia Silverstone or just because it has an equal balance between silly and smart. The movie will always be a favorite of mine, and I will always walk away feeling happy.

5. She's The Man

She's The Man has a lot of cring-worthy moments like when Amanda Bynes's character, Viola, says "dawg" or talks about tampons. I love this movie though because of its Twelfth Night meets Mulan quality. This girl is on a mission, and I'm always a sucker for a strong female lead.

6. The Lizzie McGuire Movie

This movie is great, and It really ruined my expectations for studying abroad. Why can't I become an international popstar for a night? Anyway, this movie had the beautiful yet awkward romance between Gordo and Lizzie. Hey, that's middle school. Am I right? With this movie you'll be singing the tune "This is what dreams are made of" for forever.

7. The Parent Trap (1998)

The Parent Trap is a great film about two girls who find out that they are twins at a summer camp. This movie has drama, humor, friendship, and family love going on. Plus who doesn't love a young and innocent Lindsay Lohan.

8. Pretty in Pink

Who doesn't love a classic Molly Ringwald film? I grew up watching classic 80s films with my parents, and I love the simple storyline, the costumes and the cheesy music.

9. Ella Enchanted

Cinderella has always been my favorite princess, and Anne Hathaway my favorite actress. With the plotting king and his snake, the mentally unstable fairy godmother and a very attractive prince charming this movie racks up to be one of my favorite films. Also what other movie has an ending curtain call, just saying.

10. 10 Things I Hate About You

This is a classic film that has teen angst, sibling quarrels, misunderstanding, and love. Every time I watch this movie, I end up falling for Heath Ledger all over again.

11. 13 Going On 30

13 Going On 30 is a great film about how the choices you make can shape you and change the outcome of your life. I love watching this film because of the fact that the main character, Jenna Rink, realizes that she doesn't need to be cool in middle school to have a great life in the future.

12. Freaky Friday

This movie is always relevant to me, and I always love watching it. From the meddling Chinese restaurant owner to the seriously amazing guitar solo at the end by Jamie Lee Curtis this movie is a serious favorite in my book.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
