Congratulations! You attend the University of Georgia, a top 20 public university. It’s all up hill from here, right? Well, not necessarily....
With so many options on campus, it's easy for people to get overwhelmed. Often times we ask ourselves, what should I get involved in? What should I spend my four (or five, or six) years accomplishing? When coming to college, finding your passion is the most important aspect of choosing a major. Coincidentally, it is also the most important aspect of choosing an organization to join. Which leads me to the reasons why that organization should be UGA Relay for Life:
1. Everyone is connected to cancer. Somehow. Someway. Not everyone has had a close relative or friend with cancer. But chances are, you know someone who has had the disease. Think about those people.Â
2. Fight back to end cancer. When you join Relay for Life, you actively join in the fight against cancer. As we like to say, you never know what dollar will be the one that funds the cure.Â
3. Celebrate the survivors. Cheer on at the survivor walk and tear up at the stories; celebrating survivors helps bring Relay for Life full circle. It helps us remember the importance of ending this disease.Â
4. Be more than just a Greek. I love my sorority just as much as the next girl. Don’t even get me started on how perfect my littles are! However, it is really important to be involved on campus (and not just to fulfill your organizations requirements).Â
5. There is a place for everyone. With a ton of committees and multiple ways to get involved with Relay, you are guaranteed to find your place in this organization.Â
6. Because everyone could use more friends. So, obviously you should make friends with the best people on campus.Â
7. You get to wear a lot of purple! If you're already in love with the color, why not just paint your entire life purple. The official color of Relay for Life, we eat, sleep, and breathe purple.  Â
This week ,UGA Relay for Life is hosting our annual Greek Challenge. The fraternity or sorority with the most members added this week will win a FREE catered meal. Also, this Friday, September 19th, committee applications are due. Obviously, this is the week to decide you want to join Relay!
