My New Path In Life

Not sure of where I am headed, but I definitely know where I have been, and where I want to be.

My New Path In Life

Well, I finally did it!

I have finished my bachelor's degree and I have graduated from college. The only problem now is where do I go from here? I haven't had the smoothest college road or did it in exactly four years.

How can I prove to these employers that I am just as good as a younger college grad? I am not sure where my road will lead, but I have an idea of where I want to go. I know that I will go far with the experiences I have had along the way and I am ready to prove that to my future employers.

I have life experiences.

I was a single raising my son on my own and working and going to school the first time I took a crack at college. I worked full time during the week and went to school at night full time. In addition, I had a second job on the weekends when my son went to his father's house. I had to plan for a babysitter so I could go to school at night. Secondly, I had to schedule homework time, and make time for my son, since it was the two of us, I had to make the best of the situation that I was in. Third, I was responsible for another human being. I had to make sure he had a ride to and from school, his uniform for school was washed and clean, and homework was done for the next day. This to me was a huge responsibility for someone who was the young age of 24. This should count for something, right? I have always wanted to do things myself, since I was the one who chose to be in that situation. This to me screams 'management" skills.

I have always been a hard worker.

Every job that I have had (whether I liked it or not) I have always jumped in with both feet first. Shocking but dedicated to every second I was employed. I have always felt that no matter what kind of line of work that I was in, I have often felt that my completed work was somehow an extension of myself. So no matter the situation, I would always show up on time ( or before) I would work late and on the weekends (if needed) and stay at the job until it was completed on time or by deadline. This to me shows my dedication, responsibility and reliability to have a job and take it seriously as a dedicated employee.

I have a mission to accomplish.

People have said, “Do something you love, and you will never have to work a day of your life.” I am working on this as I speak. I love writing and I feel as if I can tell a story that everyone can relate to. Yes, a lot of the time I am telling my stories of my children and my family ( as a mom, who doesn't do this) but I feel as if I am going in so many directions now with graduating, I don't know what I want to do. But I can tell you what I love to do: write, make others happy, giving and helping others. I want to make this world a much better place before I leave it. I want to make others happy while making myself happy at the same time for doing it. I want my kids to be happy when I am long gone and tell people stories of me while having a smile on their faces and be proud to call me their mom.

As I am trying to figure out what I want to do, I feel as if I need to explore more of what I love to do. My heart is the most happy when I am helping others. My path would feel complete if I just touched one person on this planet to know that I made a difference in someone else's life.

That is the perfect job for me and I am looking to find it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
