Sparkling eyes and tan skin may be nice to look at, along with a good physique and charming smile will reel you in. However, those things do not have to come at a cost of a good personality. There are more important things that should come first when looking for a person you want to have a relationship with. Before making it official with someone, ask yourself if they match any of the following descriptions:
- Someone who sticks to their word. Even if a commitment becomes inconvenient to keep or a better offer comes up, they stay true to their promise. This says a lot about a person.
- Someone who treats you the same around company as they do when it's just the two of you.
- They give good hugs- maybe with the occasional rub on the back.
- They are nice to people in general. The kind of person that makes everybody feel like a somebody is the best kind.
- They show you that they appreciate you. If you put 100% into the relationship, so should they.
- Someone that makes you feel irreplaceable. You never have to worry about them having eyes for anyone else.
- Someone who listens to you. Even if you aren't talking about anything important.
- Someone who shows interest in you beyond physical desire. They like how smart or funny you are or how passionate you are about the things that you love.
- They treat their family well. Someone who is close with their family and treats their parents and siblings with utmost respect is a keeper.
- Someone your family and friends approve of. They know you better than anyone and have your best interest at heart.
- Someone who makes you laugh. A good sense of humor is a must-have.
- Someone who is honest. This seems like a no brainer, but if they are prone to lying to get out of doing things they don't want to do or to save their butts when they mess up, then who's to say that they won't lie to you for the same reasons?
Keeping these things in mind, you need to make sure that you are doing your part to be a good significant other as well. We are all human, and humans are selfish beings. We are quick to realize when we are being wronged, but not so quick to realize when we are wronging someone else. If you expect a relationship with someone who treats you like a million bucks, then you should be prepared to treat them like a million bucks. That's the only way to sustain a rich, lasting relationship. Pun intended.
