How to Upgrade the Basic T in Winter Months

With the cold weather fast approaching, hiding under a big

sweatshirt and loose yoga pants can feel like an easy out. Don’t spend your winter months hiding under layers and layers of boring clothes: Tis the season for cute cardigans and boot socks! Here are a few ways you can upgrade one basic wardrobe choice, a tshirt, and turn it into a fun cold-month-friendly outfit that will warm up your day.

A Cardigan/Flannel
Instead of lugging around a bulky sweatshirt, try heating up your casual attire with a soft cardigan or a comfortable flannel. We all know it’s too cold to bare arms so keep warm with outerwear pieces that will make it seem as you really have your life and fashion sense together.

A Vest
What’s better than a toasty hug in your midsection, or less awkwardly known as a vest. If you want to keep it s’cute, s’fun or s’flirty as you make your way through campus, try wearing either a fleece or puffy vest that will act as your accent accessory. This also allows you more pocket options you can shove your hands into to stay warm while outside.

Patterned Leggings
If you are keeping it basic on the top, then get creative with your bottom half. A variety of legging brands include sassy designs that are meant to bring attention to your legs so rock a pair that will make you stand out from the pack. You will still be just as comfortable but now you are making a statement with your clothes.

Boots
Coming in all shapes, sizes, colors and designs, boots are NEVER a boring option. You can grab whatever pair matches your mood: suede for days of comfy studying and riding boots for lunch dates with your sisters. And to brighten up a pair you have worn time and time again, throw on a pair of colorful socks that can make them look like new.

Warm Accessories
If you are running out of the house and don’t have time to think about how to upgrade all of your clothing options, just snag a fuzzy scarf or hipster beanie to elevate your look. Cute pieces like these might not seem like they would make that big of a difference, but they give your outfit a sense of intent and style.

None of these selections takes excessive effort or time so they can easily be implemented into your daily routine. You can be one of those girls that people stop and think man, I wish I looked as cozy as her. So next time you are dressing for class and fear the freezing weather may put a damper on your attire, just remember you can still have a sense of style with your layer choices.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
