The new face of Hip-Hop and R&B is among us. In an already booming music industry, one may think there can’t possibly be any more room for another artist to steal the show. If you’re one of those people, I highly advise you to think again. Already being compared to the likes of major Hip-Hop/R&B moguls, this young man is on the path to major success. Whether most of us have heard of him or not, the music industry is more than well aware. Who is the phenome?
Bryson Tiller.
While he is no household name, not yet at least, Bryson Tiller is soon to reach mainstream fame. Born Pen Griffey, Jr., in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, Tiller began his music career at the age of 17. His sound is claimed to be influenced by R&B legend R. Kelly and fellow rappers Lil Wayne and Drake. Although, R&B artist, Omarion is the single most influential figure in his music. Following the impression of these stars is sure to work, right?
Absolutely.
Only a few years later, at age 22, his music finally made a breakthrough outside of Louisville. Thanks to SoundCloud, Tiller became somewhat of a moderate internet sensation with multiple songs reaching over millions of streams each. Since his internet discovery, he has been compared to fellow Hip-Hop names like: The Weeknd, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Tory Lanez, and the most critically acclaimed of them all, Chris Brown. Technology is one incredible tool isn’t it? Through these means, he acquired enough attention to receive co-signs from Drake and Producer, Timbaland. Not too shabby huh?
That Drake co-sign is definitely a huge step towards fame. We all know what happens to those who decide to hang out with Drizzy. Just to name a few: ILOVEMAKONNEN, Migos, Future, Jhené Aiko, The Weeknd, Fetty Wap, and Kid Cudi have all received such an honor. Now look at these performers. Each artist, now very successful, all share a similar come up story. Need I say more? It looks like the 6 God may actually have the Midas touch after all.
Things are looking mighty fine for Bryson Tiller.
The element that makes Tiller different from any other R&B artist is the interesting take on his own music. “Soul Trap,” he calls it. This newly created subgenre is what makes his style all the more unique. While the new sound is not described in any detail, the result of this unfamiliarity only leads those to seek out his music and give a listen. With the dancing prowess of Chris Brown and excellent combination of vocals and rhyme, Bryson Tiller is born to entertain.
His debut album, “T R A P S O U L,” drops October 2, 2015. In the meantime, check out his single, “Don’t,” on his SoundCloud here, it didn’t accumulate 25,000,000 views for nothing. I promise you it will not disappoint.
