Every college student has dreams of bringing their favorite artist to their college area for an unforgettable concert. One student by the name of Tyler Kistler was determined to bring his favorite artist, G-Eazy, to the San Diego area for an end of the semester concert by collecting money to pay his artist fee. Tyler rallied up his fraternity brothers and the rest of the Greek community to raise funds to bring G-Eazy to San Diego. To build buzz about the concert and keep track of all the funds being raised, Tyler used Tilt, a popular up and coming app among the college crowd. This company is actually quite remarkable and has been very successful in helping thousands of students across the nation collect and raise funds for things like party buses, ski trips, homecoming t-shirts and chapter dues.
Similar to Venmo but for groups, the Tilt app is free and super easy to get started. Students decide on what to collect money for and set the minimum amount necessary to achieve this goal, also known as the “Tilt amount.” Once people have met the minimum fundraising goal, then people have officially “Tilted.” No one is charged unless the minimum goal is met, so the entire fundraising process is a completely risk-free, win-win opportunity. If the event has to be cancelled for any reason, no one will be charged for anything and will receive a full refund for their money. One of the great things about this app is that it is free of charge, which is perfect for college students to use. Tilt has 300 college ambassadors across the country, and Tyler is one of the Tilt ambassadors here at SDSU.
When Tilt got word of Tyler's efforts, they reached out to G-Eazy's management team and he absolutely loved the idea that his fans wanted to do something like this. He agreed that if Tyler could sell a minimum of 600 tickets through Tilt, then he would come to San Diego for a concert and donate all proceeds to his favorite charity, Music Beats Heart. The concert is scheduled for this Thursday, May 7, at House of Blues in Downtown San Diego.
The concert is SOLD OUT, however, we have the inside scoop that will give two lucky readers a chance to win a meet and greet with G-Eazy!
