10 Signs You Are A Kappa Delta

It all started in 1897 when Lenora, Sara, Mary and Julia came together and formed the sisterhood we all know and love today – Kappa Delta. Thanks to our founders, we are able to share a common bond with other Kappa Deltas across the nation. We may all be from different places, but that doesn’t mean we are all completely different. Here are some signs that you are indeed a Kappa Delta sister!

1. You will forever be asked what AOT means.

It is a secret that any Kappa Delta will never share no matter how hard you try. Sure, we will let you think that it stands for Always On Time.

2. Shamrock is more than just an emblem for St. Patrick's Day.

It’s amazing how all chapters from coast to coast can work together to help Prevent Child Abuse America! Who knew doing good could be so much fun?

3. You stock up photos to post on AOTuesday.

You make sure you take an abundance of photos whenever you are with your sisters to guarantee yourself that you have something to post every Tuesday. I think I have enough to post every AOTuesday for at least 10 more years.

4. Your KD shirts stand out in a crowd.

If there's one thing I've learned, it's that KD wears their letters loud and proud. Whether it’s a Girl Scout shirt, a Shamrock shirt, or just a shirt representing your KD pride, you love to represent the letters your sisterhood loves the most. It’s always easier to spot a sister in a bright green shirt!

5. You have a newfound love of Teddy Bears.

When you came to college, you thought you left teddy bears behind, but little did you know that they would be of utmost importance to you again.

6. You live and breathe the Confidence Coalition.

Ever since you joined this perfect sisterhood, you have realized that you have the ability to instill confidence in women as well as yourself. There’s nothing like getting a compliment from a sister or better yet, giving one.

7. Between your Emerald, your Big and your Dag, you are surrounded by love.

These three girls are some of the most special to you. Don’t worry, there’s plenty of love in my heart for all of my sisters!

8. You've memorized how to throw what you know backward and forward.

It definitely took some practice, but you’ve finally got it down. There is also the struggle of throwing it with someone else toward the camera, or even crossing your hands when you’re standing backward with your sisters. We’ll figure it out sometime.

9. You try and put the letters K∆ in everything.

You would really think we are Kardashians based strictly on how we try and incorporate the letter K in as many words as possible. Welcome h∆me, Karpe ∆iem, AmeriK∆, and Getting Kr∆fty are just few of many.

10. You expect yourself to be truly honorable, beautiful and highest.

The words honorable, beautiful, and highest have so much meaning. They are more than just words, in fact, they are principles to live by.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
