There are people in our lives who remind us how awesome, inspiring and intelligent we are... not that we need to be reminded of that. toot toot!

We like to call these awesome people, Life Coaches. A life coach is more than just your average mentor, counselor or therapist (apparently).

I say apparently because I believe life coaches can be family, friends, coworkers, coaches, teachers, etc. However, there are actual "Life Coaches," who are paid a salary of between $20 and $100,000 a year. For what exactly? For empowering me to be able to meet and exceed my goals? I already have several people who help me do that and I certainly don't pay them, or myself, that astronomical amount of money just for being a good friend and offering up their advice. But, before I go and turn this into an obsessive rant about how these professional "life coaches" are being paid more to do the same exact thing as teachers, I'm going to move on. Besides, teachers (usually) do it better anyway.

As I was saying, before I was rudely distracted, life coaches are very vital for helping you keep your sanity, especially in college! If you are a control freak like me, then it might be hard for you to admit that you need some help.

Trust me, though, as hard as it is to admit this, I can't even deny the fact that I, more times than most, have to swallow my pride and admit that I do not have all of the answers and solutions. Sometimes, I just happen to explode before seeking any guidance. I go off on a little rant and vent about everything and anything that is seemingly going wrong in life.

And then anger turns into sadness and I cry about the same thing, asking no one in particular "But, what I am going to do?"

And when I've finally reached the maximum amount of tears I could possibly cry out, I am ready to let my life coach take over and work their magic.

Being a full-time student and a full- or part-time employee can be super stressful, especially if you have more than just that on your plate. For example, I am also planning my wedding on top of everything! One of the best pieces of advice I've received, especially during the wedding planning process, has been from a married coworker.

A lot of us bride-to-be's, forget about how all of this "stuff" that we're stressing over for the wedding is eventually going to be, yup you guessed it, trash! The invitations, the centerpieces, the favors, etc. All trash!

I wanted to order new wedding invitation envelopes and the fancy stickers, that had mine and my fiance's initials on them when I realized my bridesmaids and I forgot to put stamps on all of the enclosure cards.

Coworker: Nina, why are you going to spend more money on trash?

She had a great point. So, I just carefully opened all of the sealed invitations, stuck the stamps on, and resealed them with glue tape. Good as new!

Now, whenever, I am in desperate need of help, especially when I run into wedding problems, I just give her the signal.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
