The Perfect Music For Your Roadtrip

Regardless of your destination, you might possibly be in store for an epic road trip, crammed in a car with your friends, asking “Are we there yet?” to no avail. With the road trip comes the debacle of what music to play. The music will not only keep you sane, but it’ll also set the tone for your spring break. With input from fellow spring breakers, I’ve compiled a list of songs that are sure to make your road trip full of bad singing and happy thoughts:

1.      “Summertime” by Kenny Chesney.

For all of you country fans, this song embodies all there is to love about spring break: no school, warm weather, being with friends, and singing with the windows down (AKA exactly what you’ll be doing while listening to this song).

2.      “Anthem Part Two” by Blink 182.
So you can relive your teenage angst while blaring the lyrics about the young and rebellious. Singing along will surely help you release any stress leftover from the semester thus far, especially if you’ve been dealing with professors, bosses, and any other adults who may seem out to get you.

3.      “Island in the Sun” by Weezer.
This is a perfect song for cruising down the highway to your tropical destination. It has feel-good, laidback vibes that’ll be just what you need after an early morning leave or uncomfortable nap in the back seat.

4.      “Summer Girls” by LFO.

Because who doesn’t love a good throwback? Released in 1999, this song will be sure to have you feeling nostalgic for the wondrous decade that was the 90’s. This song seems to be a favorite for its simple lyrics about Abercrombie and Fitch, Chinese food, etc—perfect for when your brain is numb from being in a car for 10+ hours.

5.      “Danza Kuduro” by Don Omar.
Sure, it’s all in Spanish, so your singing may be subpar. But if you’re headed towards a Spanish-speaking location, what better way to brush up on your accent than singing along to a catchy tune? Not to mention it’ll be having you dance in your seat, returning circulation to your otherwise paralyzed body.

6.      “Best Day of My Life” by American Authors.
The optimism in this song will convince you that not only will you have the best day of your life, but quite possibly the best week of your life. Mindset=established.

So here you go, roughly twenty-two minutes of undeniably awesome jams to inspire the rest of your road trip playlist. Don’t be afraid to sing lyrics you don’t know or dance off beat; make your road trip the best one EVER.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
