Saturday Football Preview

This is a weekly breakdown of our opponent, giving you all you need to know while watching the game this Saturday.  Disclaimer: Some of this may actually be true.

Where: I am not even sure where we play home games, anymore.

Who: Michigan State University.

Mascot: Spartans. The university’s mascot was originally going to be named the Sport Ons. I would imagine after sobering up they realized how dumb that sounded. Eventually, they settled on the ninth most common name in Division One sports -- the Spartans. They share this mascot name with Norfolk State, San Jose State, South Carolina Upstate, and UNC-Greensboro.

Fun fact: You can watch the game on ABC. This will be our second game on national television. We lost to Notre Dame 30-14 on NBC in week three.

Notable alumni: Earvin “Magic” Johnson (NBA Hall of Famer), Kirk Gibson (Diamondbacks manager, former MLB star), and Dan Gilbert (Cavaliers owner). Gilbert, most likely, wrote a strongly worded letter to Magic when he went pro after just two years in college.

Series record: 34-27-3 (Michigan State).

What to watch for: Enjoy your fall break, everyone. With Hazell’s Big Ten record it is tough to be optimistic.  So, maybe, take this break to take your mind off football, or tailgate until your mind isn't on anything.

Prediction: We come out and score opening drive, then Michigan State settles in.  42-10 Sport Ons.

Next Week: At University of Minnesota.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
