How To Stay In Touch With People From Back Home

It is hard to be away from those special people back home when we are far away at school. No, this is not referring to the Florida Georgia Line song I like to frequently jam out to. It is referring to those people back home who mean the world to us.

It is just about that time of the year that we all start missing those important people from back home. Sometimes I miss my friends so much, even an “I miss you text” doesn’t help. We all need some help to get ourselves through the hard times without our hometown best friends. Here are three tips that help me get by until I can see them all again.

Look through old pictures. Just when you are feeling down about not getting those selfies with your besties, go through those old photos you have with them. Lay in bed and reminisce about the times you have had together. These photos will make you laugh and feel reconnected in a second. You could even send one of the pictures to them to remind them how much you love them. There is nothing wrong with looking forward to more times like these while doing this.

FaceTime Just seeing one of my best friend’s faces can brighten up my day. There is nothing better than FaceTiming with a close friend. You can talk about anything and everything rather than having to text it all out. The best part about it is that you can see all the facial expressions to each story, and nothing makes a story better than the way someone tells it. Next time you are missing your friends, just hit the FaceTime button on your laptop of iPhone and see their beautiful face up close and personal.

Send Selfies back and forth. Just keep sending those selfies back and forth with your friends. I love seeing my friends' faces over Snapchat, or through a text, because it makes me laugh. Pictures are a great way to remember those good times you had together. Nothing says I love and miss you more than an attractive Snapchat. The uglier, the better.

As the semester becomes busy, and you start missing home, just remember you always have your friends back home -- they are one photo, FaceTime, or selfie away. Only one more month until we can be reunited with those besties!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
