I'm Really Hyped For Senior Year and You Should Be Too

Even if you're not a senior you should be hyped for how much fun we're all going to have. Some of it could rub off on you too so keep reading.

Seniors, let's set aside any beef we have and have a killer time.  I'm sure most of you saw how fun the activities at the "green doors" were when we got back into town. So let's keep that up and and be friends, all right?

We're all part of the Greek community, and fighting is stupid. You're not cool if you get in fights with people all the time. When we all grow up and bump into each other out there in the real world, that connection you'll feel after you say "Yeah, I was Greek at Purdue too" is gonna make you wonder why anyone ever took house rivalries or petty arguments seriously. Some of my really good friends at Purdue aren't in my house, and if you let dumb stuff keep you from hanging out with other people from other houses then you're not getting all you can out of the Greek system.

So social chairmen, plan lots of functions with other houses. Plan them with houses that you maybe haven't spent much time around in the past. Let's mix things up, meet new people, make new memories. Let's roll to the bars together and hold down the upstairs section of Harry's all night. Let's go across the river and close down Chumley's on a random night. There are also really cool bars across the river that are very underutilized..let's close them down too.

Your mentality for the rest of this year should be like Bud Light's new ad campaign, "down for whatever." I think getting out there and tapping into other parts of the Greek system here can only make it more fun. Doesn't a Greek system where everyone likes everyone sound better? I sure think so. Are you really going to let yourself have less fun because that one guy ran into you at the bar and spilled your drink like a year ago? Girls, are you going to let yourself have less fun because that one girl gave you a dirty look that one time? Because that's what this all boils down to. You will have less fun if you let pointless stuff like that get in the way.

There's lots of fun to be had, you just have to go out and get it. I'll conclude by saying that Purdue's Greek system is one of the best in the country and we are the ones responsible for that. We should be very proud of what we've created at this school. We're here for the four best years of our lives and you can all pat yourselves on the back because we all have each other to thank for that. I know I'm proud to be Greek, especially at Purdue. We make the Greek system what it is, and if we have opportunities to improve it we should be all over that.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
