It's official, friends: spring formal season is upon us. As your news feed fills with photo after photo of sharply-dressed couples, you may wonder "When can I go to one of these shindigs?" Good news –– Campus Ministry formal is almost here. Read on to find out why you simply have to be there!
1. Everyone is welcome –– yes, that means you!
Didn't rush? Envious of your Greek friends as they go off to formals? Worry not! This formal is open to absolutely everyone, even if you don't consider yourself a "CM person." It's a great way to meet new friends and get more connected on campus!
2. Dress up and take snazzy photos!
Let's be real –– all of us are looking for a fabulous new prof pic for Facebook or LinkedIn. At CM formal, you have a great excuse to don your most fancy/fun apparel and take photos with all your friends! At the dance itself, there will also be a Polaroid station where you can get in touch with your inner hipster and get some great photos for the 'gram.
At 5:30, we'll be meeting in Rho and carpooling to the Malibu Pier for photos!
3. Get in touch with your natural side!
Vintage Natura is the name of CM formal this year. Guests will enjoy gorgeous nature-inspired decorations, make flower crowns and enjoy delicious healthy treats under the stars. It's the perfect opportunity to embrace your inner hippie or simply appreciate Malibu's gorgeous scenery.
4. Dance the night away!
We are privileged to enjoy the musical talents of two special guests: live music from Kyle Rogan and the American Heroes, plus sick spins from DJ Rod-Iron Steve (who strongly resembles our own Wilson Howard)!
If you have song requests, come into the CM office and add to our ever-expanding list! Otherwise we may be stuck hearing the Little Einsteins theme song all night.
5. Take a date (or not)!
There's been enough talk about Pepperdine's lack of dating culture. What's the best way to change the culture? Ask someone to CM formal! It's the perfect fun, lighthearted environment for getting to know your crush (or a friend) without too much pressure.
Should you decide not to ask anyone, you'll be in great company. Tons of people come without dates and have just as much fun, if not more, than the couples!
You can even take a watermelon as your date. We don't discriminate.
6. It's free!
The best news for any college student: attending CM formal costs absolutely nothing! All you need to bring is yourself –– and a sick pair of dancing shoes, of course.
If this article has convinced you (or if you have any questions), come into the Campus Ministry office! We'd love to talk to you about outfit ideas, song requests, or pre-formal dinner plans. There's no official signup process, so we'll see you there on April 16th at 7:00 p.m.
