Drunk, Old People on Halloween

Drunk, Old People on Halloween

Normally, children all around the country knock on their neighbors' doors, put on their cutest little face and their cute little costumes, and say “trick or treat” and are rewarded with candy. Any child would jump at the chance for free candy, so why not?! Hey, I know a lot of adults who would jump at the chance for free candy, too. As you get older, your costumes change, you become more mature and you eventually grow out of posing in your Buzz Lightyear and Barbie cheerleader costume for pictures. But don’t you miss that?

As we age, we miss the small things that we can no longer do (in a socially acceptable manner, anyway). Now, Halloween is the only night a year that you can wear as much (or as little) strange, funny or scary clothing as you choose, and no one will judge you for it. Instead of candy, everyone is jumping at the chance for alcohol. Instead of a Barbie cheerleader, Daddy’s little girl is suddenly a naughty kitty. Strangely enough, our parents enjoy going to Halloween parties, too. It is ironic because at these parties they have the candy that we loved as children AND the alcohol that many loved as they got older. Halloween seems to bring the Halloween tradition full-circle from child to adult. Old people can have fun, too!

Halloween brings out the fun, spooky spirits and makes for a super fun holiday for everyone to enjoy. Haunted hayrides are one of the best parts of Halloween. Pumpkin picking with your family in the day is fun, but the best part is going with friends at night to a haunted hayride and corn maze in the dark. If you’re brave enough, you may enter a real, haunted penitentiary. Make sure you bring boys to protect you, though, because they can get really scary, and sometimes you even may feel a spirit’s chill or fingernails running down your back. This actually happens, so don’t go if you are scared of that type of stuff!

Finding a costume is another awesome part of the holiday. Dressing up is something that people of all ages can do and enjoy. Whether you’re dressed matching a group, partner or flying solo, your costume can be just about anything. From homemade to store-bought, and everything in-between, there is something for everyone. The best part is, if you don’t like how your costume turns out, there’s always next year!

Adult parties are always so fun. Who wouldn’t want to see a bunch of intoxicated old people in stupid costumes making fools of themselves by sticking their head in water, bobbing for apples’? This may be so funny to us because we used to do it as children, but adults don’t want to grow up either. Who doesn’t want to stay young forever and not have a care in the world? Halloween is a perfect way for people from one to 71 to relive childhood and have fun with friends, while celebrating a long-lived tradition. So, put on your costume, get some candy and go bobbing for apples.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
