Campus Jobs: Connecting Students with Real World Opportunities

For many college students, the daunting challenge of finding an internship while maintaining a good GPA can seem almost impossible. There is so much pressure for students to have internships to gain experience and boost their resume, and to stand out amongst a huge pool of students all looking to find jobs after graduation. For me, finding an internship was extremely hard, and it was so frustrating to be competing with tons of students for mostly unpaid experience!

Thankfully, all of this is now changing thanks to Liz Wessel and JJ Fliegelman, who graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2012. These co-founders created the organization Campus Job, which caters to both businesses looking for potential employees from the college demographic, and for students looking for part-time jobs and internships!

Campus Job is now the largest online marketplace for US college students to find part-time jobs and internships, and it is live at all schools in the country. Campus Job is changing the way students can find jobs to make extra money, and for students looking to boost their resume and gain experience. I stumbled upon the site one day when looking for work for the semester, and that is where I found my current job -- as a Campus Job rep at Penn State.

Being a Campus Rep for this company is not just work for me. I am excited about getting the word out about this awesome new tool. For students looking for jobs, it could not be easier. It takes 30 seconds to sign up, it’s free, and then you are able to browse through jobs and apply to any that catch your eye. Remember the Common App for colleges? It works like that. Students can make a profile of their grades, experiences, hobbies, etc. Once you make a profile, you can apply to what you want, and interested businesses can also invite students to apply to their listings.

For some students, holding part-time work or an internship throughout the semester is just too much to handle. Luckily, Campus Job has now become even better by making it possible to apply to summer internships and part-time jobs after the school year. So whether you are looking for work during fall or spring semester, or if you want to see what’s available during the summer, Campus Job is your one stop shop for the best internships and jobs out there for students.

Some examples of companies posting jobs on Campus Job are Uber, Red Bull, The New York Times, Coca-Cola and Microsoft. New jobs are posted all the time, so don’t get discouraged if you don’t see anything you love right away.

If you are looking to give your wallet, your resume and your work experience a boost, head on over to Campus Job and check out some of the awesome jobs available.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
