30 Thoughts You Have Before Studying Abroad

1. I'm so excited to study abroad!

2. But wait, what if I make no friends, the school is really hard, and I have a terrible time?

3. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Everyone who studies abroad loves it.

4. Won't I miss all my friends here though?

5. I'll meet so many interesting people abroad!

6. I won't see all my best friends for months.

7. Imagine all the cool stories I could tell them once I come back.

8. Why is everyone asking me if I have seen Taken?

9.Taken is just a movie! It's normal to study abroad or travel by yourself and not get abducted.

10. What if Taken isn't just a movie…

11. What do I do when I'm stuck on an airplane for eight hours?

12. I guess that's plenty of time to read those books on my reading list.

13. HOW DO I PACK FOR THE TIME OF MY LIFE AND NOT BRING EVERYTHING?

14. I should cut down on my pairs of shoes. I don't need three pairs of boots in the summer.

15. What if these pairs of shoes are really popular abroad?

16. So oversized t-shirts aren't really a thing anywhere else?

17. So I'm going to wear something other than an oversized t-shirt to class. Oh.

18. Maybe I just shouldn't even go.

19. Of course I'm going. This is going to be the best semester of my life.

20. How am I not going to spend all of my money?

21. What is the balance between not spending a lot of money while also doing everything the city has to offer?

22. There are too many options to ever decide what to do.

23. If I go abroad, will I ever want to come back?

24. I hope I write it all down. I want to preserve as much of this experience as I can.

25. How many pictures can this memory card hold?

26. Better clear off basically everything on my cell phone because I want to save every Snapchat I take.

27. How am I going to survive without peanut butter for every meal?

28. How am I going to survive without having my parents to answer every question I have?

29. How am I going to survive without having my own car?

30. It'll be worth all the stress.

So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
