Greek of the Week: Connor Mojo

This week’s Greek of the Week is one to be rivaled. He doesn’t hesitate to get involved and gives selflessly to the world around him.

Greek of the Week: Connor Mojo

Originally a Houston native, Connor Mojo has lived in Bakersfield, CA, since the age of two. He chose to attend OSU because it was the alma mater of his father, who is from Oklahoma City. Mojo is earning a degree in Industrial Engineering and Management. He is a junior and will graduate in 2016.

Mojo is a proud member and legacy of the Oklahoma State Sigma Nu chapter. His father was a member of Sigma Nu when he attended OSU. “His Sigma Nu experiences were something that I really looked forward to being a part of when I came to OSU,” Mojo said.

He has served his chapter since he was a freshman, when he served as alumni relations chair. He did not take the job lightly as he organized and led a complete update of Sigma Nu’s alumni contact information and records. Last year Connor served as scholarship chair. “This junior year I do not have a position in the house, but chose to live in house to still be as involved as possible and to help mentor and be a positive example to younger members,” he said.

Mojo is also very involved on campus outside of Sigma Nu. As a freshman, he was a member of Junior Greek Life and Freshman Representative Council. He currently serves as the Vice President of the Institute of industrial Engineers and next year will serve as president. He is the Vice President in the OSU Student Foundation (STUFU), an organization that promotes philanthropic giving on campus. He has been a CEAT Senator for SGA and was chosen as a Top 20 Freshmen. He is involved in Blue Key Honors Society and Greek Faith Council. Mojo is a CEAT scholar and has been on the President’s Honor Roll every semester. He is also in the Honors College. “I love being active and doing community service,”  says Mojo, who spends most of his weekends on service trips.

He also loves sports and attends most OSU sporting events. The amount of OSU sports he has been to vastly exceeds the amount that he has not been to. He loves volleyball pickup games, spikeball, racquetball and basketball. Mojo is an Oklahoma City Thunder NBA fan and Houston Texans NFL fan.

Mojo is also a huge fan of movies and TV. He camps frequently and often goes geocaching (the recreational activity of hunting for and finding a hidden object by means of GPS coordinates posted on a website). He enjoys downhill mountain biking and hopes to some day live near the mountains.

Connor Mojo has left his mark on this campus and is someone that we should all strive to be like.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
