When you go off to college, there's a lot of things that you give up. In return, you also gain quite a few things. You have new friends, new favorite places to get food, and a set a schedule for yourself. Some of you guys may enjoy and look forward to going home. Others? Not so much. Which ever it may be, I'm sure we can all agree on these few things we'll miss when we go home for winter break.

1. Your Friends

When you go home for an entire month, and especially during the holiday season, you can't go and visit your friends. It's not like college where you can walk down the hall and hang out whenever. You can't cry over the newest episode of your favorite show together, you can't go get food together. You pretty much have to learn to live on your own again.

2. Your Own Place

Dorm. Apartment. House. Fraternity. Sorority. It doesn't matter where you live; when you go home, you're no longer free to do as you please. Maybe you have a curfew now, you're coming home to responsibilities, like having to keep your room clean. Yeah, ew. Having your own place is a glorious, glorious perk when you're at college. Having to leave somewhere that you've called your own for awhile is one of the hardest things to do.

3. Your Freedom

Going home means that you are no longer an adult who has to make their own decisions. It's like your 17 again (just not as hot as Zac Efron.) You want to go hang out with your old friends? Do the dishes first. You want to sit down and enjoy a movie? Make sure you don't forget to start your laundry first!

4. Unlimited Food

If you still have a meal plan, coming home could be like the literal hunger games. Gone is the buffet and free food meetings. If you're living off-campus, it's even worse. If you don't live in a college town at home, that means one thing. No late night delivery. No late night Insomnia Cookies, pizza and wings, or DP Dough. A college kid's worst nightmare.

5. Your Boyfriend/Girlfriend

If you end up having a boyfriend or girlfriend at college, there's a big chance that they don't live near you when you go home since, you know, diversity and stuff. So when winter break rolls around, and you have to leave them, they take a piece of you home with them. Then the holidays roll around and you wish with your whole being that they were there with you. You wish they were your first kiss on New Year's and that they were there to be with your friends and family.

These five reasons don't mean that you can't have a good winter break, but it does mean that some of that winter break may be not be as joyous. Just remember that in about a month, you'll be back on campus doing what college kids do: watching Netflix and eating.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
