Spending time in nature is something more and more people are getting into; for the scenery, the activities and the opportunity to bond with others out there wanting to experience life. However, if you haven't gone camping or need a new place to experience, then here are just 15 opportunities (and coincidentally places) to get outside and do something this summer.

1. Four Mile Creek State Park

Four Mile Creek State Park is just North of the Niagara Falls River, where you can go fishing, swim, bike, canoe, hike and even view Toronto across Lake Ontario on a clear day.

2. Golden Hill State Park

Golden Hill State Park is located in Niagara County on Lake Ontario, where you are free to boat, jet-ski, fish, bike, hunt and hike to your heart's desire.

3. Evangola State Park

Evangola State Park is located in southern Erie County right on the lake. It is a hot-spot for fishing, swimming, hiking and the campground has tennis and basketball courts as well as baseball and soccer fields. The Pirate and Tomato Festivals are held annually here as well.

4. Allegany State Park

Allegany State Park is located in Cattaraugus County just North of Pennsylvania's Allegany National Forest. Here you can go biking, swimming, fishing, boating, rock climbing, bird watching, horseback riding and hiking. You can also visit the museum or visit some 'Quaker Area Attractions.'

5. Stony Brook State Park

Stony Brook State Park is located in Dansville. It is known for it's various (and ever gorgeous) waterfalls as well as the international speedway nearby. While camping you can hike until your legs can no longer move.

6. Letchworth State Park

Letchworth State Park is located in Castile on the Genesee River. Here you can bike, fish, hike, swim, kayak, bird watch and go horse-back riding all while viewing the beautiful river. If you're lucky, then you may even be able to catch a hot air balloon ride.

7. Keuka Lake State Park

Keuka Lake State Park is also located in the Finger Lakes right in the middle of wine country. Here you can go boating, kayaking, jet-skiing, sailing, swimming, fishing, biking, hiking and bird watching all with the lake in sight.

8. Cayuga Lake State Park

Cayuga State Park (not to be confused with Keuka Lake) is located east of Seneca Falls on the West shore of Cayuga Lake. Here you can also swim, boat, fish, bike and hike. Antique stores and wineries are also within 10 miles of the campground, in case you are in need of some souvenirs.

9. Long Point State Park

Long Point State Park is located in Aurora, on the eastern side of Cayuga Lake and has most of the same activities available at Cayuga Lake State Park above.

10. Watkins Glen State Park

Watkins Glen State Park is one of the most famous state parks situated in the Finger Lakes. Here you hike the entire beautiful trail as well as swim (in the park's pool). Canoeing, antiquing, fishing, boating and swimming are all within 10 miles of the campground.

11. Taughannock Falls State Park

Taughannock Falls State Park is located in Tompkins County in (the town) Ulysses. Here you can hike to see the falls (plunging 215 feet from the 400 foot surrounding cliffs), as well as boat, fish, canoe and bird watch.

12. Fillmore Glen State Park

Fillmore Glen State Park (not to be confused with Watkins Glen) is located in Cayuga County. Named after Millard Fillmore, the U.S. president, the campground activities mirror others within the Finger Lakes although the scenery is quite different (yet just as fascinating).

13. Buttermilk Falls State Park

Buttermilk Falls State Park is located just south of Ithaca. It features beautiful waterfalls to hike around through, swim in and bird watch from. You can also bring up to two pets along with you, no one wants to adventure alone!

14. Adirondack State Park

Adirondack State Park is located, obviously, in the Adirondacks. The park covers one-third of New York State, meaning if you can think of an activity to do there, you probably can do it. With over 2,000 miles of foot trails, you could spend a month walking and not see everything it offers.

15. Niagara Falls State Park

Although you can't actually camp here, Niagara Falls State Park is a tough site to ignore. With attractions like the Maid of the Mist and the Cave of the Winds, the falls have us in awe. Even if you live there, get out to just experience the magnificence that is 'The Falls.' From there, you could start one killer road trip!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
