On March 17, Alpha Phi Alpha hosted its annual step off. Panhellenic and IFC greek organizations stepped and strolled with hope of being named grand champion. During the week leading up to the event, Greek students had the opportunity to participate in "change wars" for spirit points that would be added to their total score.
The winner of the fraternity division was Alpha Sigma Phi, with a "Phantom of the Opera" theme. The winner of the sorority division was Kappa Delta with a "Toy Story: Bucket of Soldiers" theme. Kappa Delta also took home the Grand Champion title for having the highest total among all the teams competing.
All proceeds from the change wars and ticket sales were donated to Alpha Phi Alpha's philanthropy, March of Dimes. March of Dimes is a nonprofit organization that aims to end premature birth, birth defects, and infant mortality. Because attendance at the event was high and change wars were competitive, Alpha Phi Alpha will be able to make a difference in the lives of mothers and their babies.
