Bucket List: Senior Edition

9

Ten things you should put on your bucket list to do before graduation.

As I wrote my favorite senior sister a letter for her last few weeks of college, I realized that in two or three short years, I will be in that same place. I'll have to experience those bitter sweet moments of graduation and accomplishment, while at the same time, leaving the school that I have grown apart of and the friends I've made here. It was that moment that I decided my bucket list was born.

1. Have a sleepover in the commons of your dorm. My friends and I did this one year and it was the most fun we had in a long time. We took mattresses out and hooked up a TV with sheets hanging from the ceiling so that it could be a giant fort. I will never forget the fun we had during those few precious nights or the friendships that were solidified. I'm still friends with them to this day.

2. Study Abroad. Take the chance to do this while you still can. It isn't everyday that you can go to another country, let alone go to SCHOOL in another country. I plan on going to London in a year and I know this in an opportunity to not be missed!

3. Take a picture with your school icon. In my case this is the Spartan Statue. It is an age old tradition to go at night to take a picture with Sparty your freshman year. Honestly, I don't think it matters when you do this, as long as you do it!

4. Attend every big sporting event or musical at your school. Sit in the student section and soak up the amazing school spirit that you will never find anywhere else. When Michigan State wins a football game, it is like the entire campus is floating on air. Take a part of something where everyone comes together.

5. Take a  bike tour around campus, just because. There is no better time to appreciate your campus than riding your bike in the sunshine without any place to go.

6. Go somewhere meaningful for spring break. If you're like me, then you probably haven't gone anywhere for spring break. My friends and I are planning to go somewhere exotic and enjoy that last official "vacation" in our college careers.

7. Pull an all-nighter. Show yourself the value of sleep and enjoy the shenanigans that can occur at 4 AM with your friends. You'll appreciate sleep so much more after.

8. Take a road trip. Grab some friends and a map and just drive. Explore the area surrounding your college town. You never know what you will find that you will fall in love with!

9.  Participate in karoke night somewhere. Anywhere.

10.  Thank the people who helped you get to where you are today!

Regardless of whether or not you do the things on the list, the most important way to spend your senior year is to appreciate each moment of your undergrad and don't take anything for granted. Be in the moment and go to as many things as you can (greek or not), while keeping your academic priorities in line. Lastly, take pride in how far you've come!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
