Families Are Full Of Heroes!

Families Are Full Of Heroes!

Growing up there is always that one person you look up to. As a toddler, for me it was the Disney princesses. As a pre-teen, it was a celebrity of ABC family. As a 20-year-old, it is my family. My dad and my three sisters are not only my biggest blessing, but each of them plays an important part in my life. These four people are the only heroes in life I will ever need.

My dad is like Superman: smart, shy, giving, and loving. My dad is my hero because throughout my entire life he has shown me love like no other man. My dad loves me unconditionally, no matter how big my mistakes and how large my downfalls. My dad has gone without to provide for my sisters and me, and shows us just how important we are to him on a daily basis. He goes above and beyond to give his girls the world. He has taught me the importance of putting myself before others and striving for my goals in life; never gift up on life, even when it gets hard.

Brittany: nerdy, intelligent, stubborn, with the oldest child syndrome, for sure. Brittany is my oldest sister, and throughout life I have always looked up to her. Seeing how hard she has worked for everything she wanted in life gives me an example to strive for while at Mississippi State. Her stubbornness has shown me that, sometimes, to get what you know you deserve in life you have to put yourself before others. She is my hero because she has taught me that I deserve to succeed in life.

Breanne: headstrong, smart, loving, mature, giving, and full of life. Breanne and I are 14 months apart and bickered a lot growing up. Breanne has to be my biggest hero in life. After the passing of our mom, she has grown so much. She is so smart and full of life. She sets an example, daily, on how to live life to the fullest even in the most difficult of times. She puts others before herself just to make sure everyone else is happy. She is my hero on a daily basis. She is my shoulder to cry on and the wind that keeps me going. She teaches me to be humble and strive for my life goals.

Bobbi: innocent, sweet, fierce, with an attitude like no other. Bobbi is this little ball of fire that keeps me going. She is the biggest reason for getting out of bed on a daily basis. Bobbi’s spirit is like no other. On the worst of days, she can put a smile on your face. She pushes me further and further in life every day. This little ball of fire has no clue how big of an impact she has on my life at 15 years old.

Growing up, princesses and celebrities may be your idea of the perfect role model. My idea of a role model is someone who helps you to better yourself; my family is surely that. I hope that all the qualities I find so fascinating about them can rub off on me and make me half the person they are.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
