Gossip Girl Knows Best

*Cue music* Hey, Upper East Siders! Kimberly Yang here. Your one and only source of sarcasm, humor, and life hacking advice. Yeah, yeah we've all heard that not so clever anymore bs quote, "Work like a Humphrey, think like a Bass, act like a Waldorf, and dress like a Van Der Woodsen." This week I present to you 13 reallife lessons Gossip Girl taught us:

1.) Queen B said it best, "Whoever said money doesn't buy happiness didn't know where to shop." I have never once felt sad walking out of Ralph Lauren, have you? Well okay maybe once but only if I left empty handed. Retail therapy is a real thing b*tches.

2.) I love Tinder as much as the next basic b but Serena can't google prince charming so you can't swipe right to him either ladies.

3.) Serena dated below the line so I won't judge you if you get drunk goggles once or twice, it happens to only the best of us. I do guarantee I will make fun of you, out of love lol. I also guarantee you won't be able to live it down.

4.) GO GAMMA PHI. You heard it from Gossip Girl not me.

5.) Ugh, if you absolutely must, ask for forgiveness not permission.

6.) Quality over Quantity. That goes for your closet too.

7.) Stop talking. Save yourself from looking completely and utterly stupid and think before you speak. Sure you can "take back what you said" with a hollow "I'm sorry" but you can't take back how you made someone feel. Choose your words wisely.

8.) Sometimes holding onto people can hurt, you've got to learn how to let them go. Yeah your hot chocolate might be sweet and make you feel all warm and tingly inside, but you wouldn't hold onto it if it were burning your hands would you? No. Let that sh*t go, there's a sweeter, sexier cup of hot chocolate waiting for you.

9.) It's okay to fall apart. Falling apart is just another chance to build yourself back up, be brand new. The end of a chapter means the beginning of a new one.

10.) Okay, I admit there may have been a time in my life when I was broke and settled for Karkov. Just like Serena, I'm not proud of it and I definitely don't want to go back to that. We've all made mistakes and/or slept with them. The most important thing is that we learn from them, move on and don't let our mistakes define who we are.

11.) Things are constantly changing. Just remember that change is good, change means growth. For example, remember when gauchos were a thing? They aren't anymore and for a good reason. Or, just picture yourself before puberty hit. I think I've made my point.

12.) Blair said, "If you really want something, you don't stop for anyone or anything until you get it." She also said, "I know what I want and I'm going to get it." I don't believe in luck, everything in my life is a direct result of hard work or not working hard enough. So ladies I'm saying suck it up, work hard, stop at nothing to get what you deserve, and make sh*t happen for yourselves.

13.) Give zero f*cks. People always have something to say so you might as well give them something to talk about, be crazy, be controversy, be yourself.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
