Until We Meet Again, Smylie

25

Everyone copes with tragedy in his or her own way. There isn’t any ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way of dealing with heartache; you just do what you need to do in order to get through it.We recently lost an angel, Rachel Smylie, to a devastating car accident in South Africa. Rachel Smylie was the most beautiful, lively, vibrant, and loving girl that I have ever had the privilege of knowing, and no one could or ever will replace her.
Things like this don’t make sense. When someone so alive leaves us so early, it is impossible to try to rationalize or understand why. The only comfort in times such as these comes from one another. Be understanding of each another and know that everyone suffers in their own way. Understand that the pain from such a loss doesn’t ever really go away, it only becomes something you grow used to and learn to live with. Take each and every day one step at a time and try to live every moment to the fullest.
If I have learned anything, it's that the most important thing in life is the relationships you make. Be appreciative of the ones you love, understanding when they make mistakes, and thoughtful in everything you do. Don’t take a single moment for granted; life is too short to live cautiously and there are no certainties. A fellow sister of mine in Alpha Phi left us all with a poem that I think is extremely comforting as well as beautiful.
It goes like this:
"WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME"
When tomorrow starts without me  And I’m not here to see  If the sun should rise and find your eyes  All filled with tears for me I wish you wouldn’t cry  The Way you did today  While thinking of the many things We did not get to say
I know how much you love me As much as I love you  Each time that you think of me I know you will miss me too  When tomorrow starts with out me  Please try to understand  That an angel came and called my name  And took me by the hand
The angel said my place was ready  In heaven far above  And That I would have to leave behind  All those I Dearly Love
But When I walked through Heaven’s Gates I felt so much at home When GOD looked down and smiled at me From his golden throne
He said This Is Eternity  And All I promised you  Today for life on earth is done But Here it starts a new
I promise no tomorrow For today will always last  And Since each day’s the exact same way  There is no longing for the past
So When Tomorrow starts without me  Do not think we’re apart  For every time you think of me  Remember I’m right here in your heart
Rest easy Smylie, you will be forever loved.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
