Recently, a new trend has emerged thanks to Snapchat’s filters that has girls, celebrities, as well as myself posting selfies to social media featuring dog ears, a nose and sometimes a tongue. Everyone knows dogs are the cutest things in the world—this is a proven and undisputed fact. Therefore, through the scientific method, the puppy filter makes anyone at least 200 percent cuter. I don’t make the rules. You should feel free to use the filter liberally, and post the results to every social media platform you have an account with.
Naturally, whenever a large percentage of millennial girls like to do something, such as Instagram pictures of the sunset or wear high-waisted shorts, boys complain about it, as if anyone actually cares what they have to say.
Guys, this needs to stop. Stop telling girls what they can and cannot do. Stop bashing the puppy filter.
First of all, and I’ll say this slowly, boys—girls don’t care if you don’t like what they do. They aren’t doing it for you. In case this is the first time in your life someone is telling you this, I’ll say it again: not everyone does what they do to please you. In fact, most of the time, your opinion means nothing to anyone but yourself. That girl with the puppy filter profile picture on Facebook? She doesn’t care that you don’t think it’s cute.
And that’s another thing: the puppy filter is cute. You’re gonna have to accept it. It’s 2016 and the puppy filter is here to stay. Use it. There’s no shame in it. You love dogs. You love looking cute as heck. The puppy filter combines the best of both worlds.
Don’t let anyone tell you not to use the puppy filter. You don’t need that negativity in your life.
