To People Who Gossip

If you genuinely cared, you wouldn't care so much.

To People Who Gossip

So often people are obsessed with other people's lives. If I wanted you to know my thoughts every waking moment, I would honestly tell you. Unfortunately, many do not understand this concept and often try to pry where they shouldn't.

I've experienced this many times throughout my school life and thought it would stop once I graduated. This still happens in college, which is totally unnecessary. There are certain people who feed off drama and don't know any other way to live their lives. They constantly need to know what you're doing and why. They will get information on you from other people to carry a conversation. They can't live without talking behind everyone's backs. For people who love the spotlight so much, you'd think they would want to be the center of attention. Once they stop knowing about your life, they start to make up information when they're bored.

I have one question for these people: Why do you care so much? If you genuinely cared about my life, you wouldn't care so much about what I'm doing all the time. If you took as much time to focus on yourself as you do on others, you'd be so much happier. Trust me, my life isn't that interesting to talk about to your friends. In fact, it's pretty boring. So there isn't a great reason to be so interested in my life.

Gossip isn't the answer to your problems. Unless, you want to be the next Gossip Girl (which I'm not sure why because everyone hates her), don't revolve your life around other people's business. If you love gossip so much that you talk about your own friends behind their backs because you have nothing else to do, maybe you should talk to someone about it. Gossip is addicting, but it shouldn't be consuming.

If you take time to learn everything about everyone else's lives, you'll go insane. I feel bad for those people who need to feed off of other people's lives. I also don't understand the interest. Let other people live. I feel more insecure when I know there is gossip going on. It feels like I'm being stalked, really. We are in college. We have reached the point where if we are friends, I will tell you about my life. If we aren't friends, but you want to be, just talk to me instead of about me. If we aren't friends, and you want to know what I had for lunch, that's creepy. Don't do that. Most of the time it's something involving avocado anyway because I live such a WILD life.

Anyway, just focus on you because you'll be much happier, I promise. Life starts when you stop caring.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
