A Letter To President Barack Obama

Who do these terrorists have to kill next for you to do something useful?

A Letter To President Barack Obama

Dear Mr. President,

Can you please grow a pair and start doing your damn job as commander in chief? I deserve to feel safe in my own country, but you don't make me feel secure; I don't trust you to protect me from the current threat facing the world. What's the threat I'm talking about? No, it's not climate change, it's terrorism. Radical Islamic terrorism, to be exact. Here, let me repeat that because it seems like you have some issues saying it yourself: Radical. Islam. There, maybe you should practice saying that a couple of times so you don't have trouble using those words.

You underestimated the threat of ISIS. If I remember correctly, you called them JV; is that still what you consider them? After all the beheadings, the murders, and the attacks do you still think they're not a threat? Do you really think you've magically contained them? Because here's just a heads up- you haven't, not by a long shot.

I want a president who will take a hard stance against these terrorists; I don't want them to look at you and laugh, I want them to fear you. But they don't, because you have given them no reason to.

At the G20 summit you should have pledged the US's dedication to eradicating ISIS and any other terrorists. But no, instead you got defensive when asked questions about your obviously ineffective, unwise strategy.

Sorry Obama, but I don't want a lecture on how we can't condemn all Muslims. I know not all Muslims are terrorists, and I don't blame the entire religion, but that doesn't diminish the fact that the majority of the most dangerous terrorists in the world identify as Islamic. I don't see what the problem is with calling these monsters radical Islamists- if it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and yells Allahu Akbar while it's doing it, it's probably a radical Islamic terrorist. So call it one.

And I understand that the Syrian refugee crisis is a huge humanitarian issue, but why do you think it's a good idea to bring 10,000 of them to America? One of the Paris bombers, Ahmad al Muhammad, had an emergency passport and declared himself Syrian. Who's to say a terrorist won't be among the refugees you bring to America? In case you haven't noticed, ISIS detests the US so if you think they won't masquerade some Jihadists as refugees you're sadly mistaken.

But your response to these concerns is that there will be a thorough screening process. How can you possibly screen these people? You're blatantly ignoring the concerns of Congress and this nation as a whole, and for what? Some stupid political agenda? We don't want these Syrian refugees in our country, it's as simple as that. You cannot guarantee that one of them isn't a terrorist, and I don't understand why that's a risk you're willing to take on behalf of every American.

Start thinking about the safety of this country. You may have Secret Service and places you can go in case of an emergency, but us regular Americans don't have that luxury. If more ISIS members come to the US and they choreograph an attack like the ones in Paris and Beirut, a lot of Americans are going to die. So do your job and keep that from happening.

I don't have faith in you, not as my president and not as my commander in chief. No one else should die at the hands of these sadists, and unless you start doing something useful terrorism is just going to continue to increase. And if you decide you want to continue being an inept, reckless leader (a term I use very loosely), then at least step aside so that people willing to do something can.

Sincerely,

A fed up American

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
