You may have heard our stereotype, "Get high with Pi Phi," but as much as we take offense to this false rumor, we are able to prove people wrong in all the good things we do and our involvement with LSU and other organizations.
The typical stoner, so to claim, is a lazy burn out who does not care. Pi Phi may be the chillest sorority on the row, meaning that our girls are down to earth and do not necessarily care about any rankings between other houses. We simply do not compare ourselves to others and do not harp on being better than everyone else; we just try to be ourselves and be the best that we can be and hope that people like us.Â
This year a Pi Beta Phi won Miss LSU and another one of my sisters received first runner-up. First and second place? Hell yeah, we're beautiful. Another one of our girls is now on Homecoming Court; that's a big deal. We have a Tiger Girl, Golden Girl, and a Saintsation. Pi Phi is represented in every college on LSU's campus and we are involved in Student Government, multiple honors societies (Order of Omega and Rho Lambda), and Ambassadors of LSU.Â
Obviously, we are not lazy. We are just as motivated as any other sorority. Jordan Berry, Pi Phi's Vice President of Membership Development, says, "What has always bothered me is that everyone refers to us as the chill sorority. We just care more about the important things like being together and having a fun time if you ask me." She also told me that Pi Phi's friendships are like no one else's. We have the best and most genuine friendships and looking back on my personal experiences, I completely agree.Â
It did not take me long to find my place in Pi Phi and as a new member I was welcomed with open arms. The friends I have made in Pi Phi will be with me forever. They are the people I am most compatible with; we all fell in love with Pi Phi for the same reasons. This sorority will always have a special place in my heart just like any other girl feels about her own house.Â
So let's not judge, let's spread that love!
