The movie "Clueless" has become a right of passage for high school girls. The movie follows Cher's eventful high school life and is loosely based on Jane Austen's "Emma." This movie has become so popular that it is a defining icon of what it is like to be a teenage girl in Beverly Hills during the 90s. It stands the test of time by being a relatable teen movie with valuable lessons that anyone can relate to. Here are the great life lessons taught in "Clueless."

1. You are allowed to be picky and not settle.

Throughout "Clueless," Cher has an issue with high school boys. She doesn't want to date one, she doesn't like them, and she thinks that they are immature. You are always allowed to be picky about boys or anything else in life. You don't have to settle for something that's not right for you just because it's expected.

2. You can take your time to figure things out.

Cher did not realize her friend Christian was gay until halfway through the plot of the movie when one of her friends told her. Cher also didn't realize that she loved Josh until basically the end of the movie. Everyone processes things about themselves and others at different paces. It may take you a while to realize something, and that's okay.

3. Get involved and make a difference!

Cher volunteers to help with the disaster relief fund her school sets up and starts to donate some of her own belongings, like her fabulous skis. While skis aren't exactly what a disaster relief needs, you can always make a difference by deciding to help and get involved.

4. The more the merrier.

In the iconic debate scene, Cher compares politics to a garden party her father had. People had shown up that didn't R.V.S.P., which made Cher have to get more seats, but then she realized, "But by the end of the day it was, like, the more the merrier." Being inclusive and making room for others literally and figuratively will always result in a great deal of satisfaction.

5. Using any excuse to get out of gym class is always valid.

Like Cher, some of us just hate gym. We hate it so much that we will use any excuse to get out of it. Honestly, why is mandatory gym still an issue?

6. Don't pretend to like something you don't know anything about.

It's always better to be an authentic version of yourself. It's nice to be agreeable, but liking something someone else likes just so they like you is never the way to go. It also makes it seem like you lie to impress. In Cher's case, Billie Holiday is a woman and she did not impress.

7. Make a face when things go wrong.

My personal favorite, making faces is the best coping mechanism. You may look silly, but it lets the moment of frustration out so you can go back to whatever you are doing.

8. Movies are an acceptable source for information.

If you're ever in a fight with your step brother's girlfriend about whether Hamlet said a line or not, you have a movie with Mel Gibson to use as proof. You can always use a movie to prove a point, just make sure it's a credible adaption.

9. Dads are a great support system.

Great advice and comfort can be given by that surprising source. Nothing feels better than being told how worth it you are and how idiotic someone else is if they can't see that.

10. Everyone is insecure.

Even a girl who looks like a Barbie doll and lives in a Beverly Hills mansion is insecure. The sooner you realize that everyone is insecure to some degree, the sooner you can stop paying attention to your own appearance and move on to more important issues in life.

11. Breaking in any shoe takes time and effort.

We've all been there. Cute shoes can take a long time to break into and can be painful to wear during the process of breaking them in. Little life victories, like breaking in a pair of shoes, is family dinner table worthy news.

12. Never accept the first grade.

You never have to accept the first grade you are given in a class. Go to your professor's office hours and ask how to turn a B paper into an A paper. Ask about practical ways you can improve your score. Good grades take effort.

13. Life is full of challenges.

Life always has a challenge. Whether it's the first time you drive on the highway or an obstacle more serious, you must overcome them. Life will always have an obstacle you will get past.

14. You may be held up at gunpoint.

Always check your surroundings when in an area you know is unsafe. Also do whatever you have to do to stay alive, even if it means ruining a designer dress.

15. Pausing and stopping at a stop sign are not the same thing.

To keep drivers safe everywhere come to a stop at the stop sign. Pausing is not stopping and you could damage your car. Ladies, please do not perpetuate the stereotype of women drivers.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
