1. You know not to step on the Cardinal Bird.

Always rule number one.

2. You know the smell of Ville Grill all too well.

Yet you still go back. Every. Time.

3. You are constantly looking for the White Squirrel.

4. You immediately know what the slow clap means.

C-A-R-D-S!

5. You don’t look forward to just one sports season.

Let’s face it; UofL dominates in almost (if not) all of them. #L1C4

6. You avoid walking in certain areas due to the trees.

And you know which ones I’m referring to. If you don’t, lucky you.

7. You have found a new love (or are rekindling an old one) with Papa Johns.

There’s no better way to spend Flex at 1 a.m. on a Saturday night.

8. When someone says they’re going to “Club E”, you know what they are referring to.

No dancing allowed... Unless Beyoncé comes on Spotify.

9. #ItsHappeningHere stays on your Twitter recents.

But it’s never used seriously.

10. Rain gear is a must.

Okay -- so this picture might be a radical example, but you get the point. You can never have too many rain boots, coats, and umbrellas.

11. You’re used to semis getting stuck under the Third Street Bridge.

12. And being stuck in traffic because of a train.

13. You can never turn down Comfy Cow, Dairy Kastle, or Mt. Fuji.

14. RaiseRED is one of your favorite events of the school year.

Especially when your sisters bring you donuts and milk after 18 hours of dancing and your school raises $226,613.12 for pediatric oncology research!

15. You have attended the Kentucky Derby and/or Oaks at least once in your four years as a student.

And if you haven't and don't, you're doing it wrong.

16. You rarely find yourself bored because the city of Louisville has so much to offer.

Whether you prefer concerts, a day out in the park, a festival, or museums, Louisville is always sure to please.

17. Containing your pride about attending the best University in the state of Kentucky is impossible.

When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
