Anyone with red hair knows that while growing up, things weren't always easy. For some reason, people seemed to tell the same, overused "ginger" jokes as if they were still funny (thanks, South Park.) However, throughout our lives, we often learn to embrace our red hair in all of its fiery fury, and others learn to appreciate it, and even envy it, as well.

Despite the childhood teasing, being a redhead definitely has its benefits:

1) Red hair is very unique

Because it's a recessive trait, only 2% of the earth's population has red hair. Even better, if you have blue eyes as well, you're a part of the rarest minority in the world, with only 1% having both! TAKE THAT, BRUNETTES.

2) It causes major hair envy

People often gawk at you, try to touch it, or tell you how they wish they had red hair too. I can't tell you how many times I've had someone ask me if this was my natural hair color (sorry, this doesn't come in a bottle, sweetie!)

3) Compliments galore

I wish I had a nickel for every time I was told to "never dye my hair" because "it's so pretty and natural!" Okay, humble brag aside, I wouldn't exactly be Bill Gates. But, regardless, guys and girls alike love it, and maybe even fantasize about it.

4) We always look good in green

This is an age-old "ginger" fashion tip, which makes sense because it literallynever fails. Try to avoid red or orange though, then things can get tricky...

5) You have plenty of go-to Halloween costume options

There's Princess Anna from "Frozen," Kim Possible, Blossom from "The Power Puff Girls," Daphne from "Scooby Doo," Kimmy Schmidt, Chuckie from "The Rugrats," or maybe even scary Chucky, if you're feeling like terrifying some small children. Either way, you'll never run out of ideas! Plus, if you say you haven't wanted to be Ariel at least once, you're lying.

6) Moody? Blame the hair

Redheads get a bad (or sometimes good) rep for being "fiery" or having a short temper. I don't know how much I buy this one, but we've definitely got some sultry, passionate, and sometimes wild sides, and if we snap at you, we have a super good excuse... A.K.A. don't mess with us.

7) You learn how to laugh at yourself

After being teased for your entire young life, you probably get sick of defending yourself. After all, constantly yelling, "GINGERS REALLY DO HAVE SOULS," can get sort of exhausting. So, you adapt and learn to make fun of yourself in the process, which is always a good ability to have.

8) You don't go gray as fast

Really, it's science. Redheads are usually known to go light blonde far before they go gray, and even then, their hair tends to turn white rather than silver. Plus, it happens later. Thanks, genetics.

9) Tons of the coolest celebrities are redheads

Prince Harry (drool,) Ed Sheeran, Emma Stone (hers might not be natural, but hey, she represents.) The list goes on and on, and everyone totally crushes on them. Can't blame them, can you?

10) You stand out in any crowd

Okay, maybe unless you're attending "Redhead Days" in the Netherlands... then that's a different story. In any other social setting, your friends can probably find you immediately, though, which definitely comes in handy.

11) It's like a family

Redheads have this weird sense of solidarity like no other. We stand up for each other, encourage each other, and will probably take over the world someday (because P.S, we aren't going extinct anytime soon.) Even if the person is a stranger walking down the street, if they have red hair, we totally smile at each other. After all, we're probably just mutually recognizing how awesome and unique we are. Sorry, not sorry.
