The Best (Not So Ethnic) World Cuisines

“What’s for dinner tonight?” is a common question in my house and among my friends. Overtime I’ve noticed that there are a handful of responses that pair nicely with this question. Below are the five answers that are most common and qualify as the most popular ethnic foods.

5. American
No one ever really says let’s go get American food, but we eat it so often. Burgers, ribs, pizza, fries and cookies. Not all American food originates from America, but it certainly is improved upon in America. Eat it at home or out and about. American food is everywhere.

4. Japanese
Emphasis on the sushi. More often than not I find people are craving sushi. I think it’s because people enjoy the challenge of chopsticks and the wide variety of options! Japanese typically involves a trip to a restaurant, but it’s always worth it!

3. Chinese
If your night plans include not leaving the house and an abundance of laziness then Chinese is probably on the menu. Chicken, beef, broccoli, rice and crab rangoons. The list goes on and on. Don’t forget the fortune cookies.

2. Italian
It’s easy. It’s delicious. It’s a party on a plate. Whether you’re embarking upon pizza or a pasta dish things are looking up.

1. Mexican
I’m yet to meet someone who doesn’t like Mexican food, but I’m sure there’s an oddball out there. Mexican food makes for a happy heart and is definitely the number one sought after ethnic food. No one despises Mexican food and that’s because it’s so terrific.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
